Based on the way he has talked in interviews about this season, he sounds like he's treating this as his last year at College, but that might just be Flames fans hearing what they want to hear.

I've watched a few of the BC games this year and Johnny could easily have more points if he had some half decent linemates with skill. He's made some amazing plays and set ups but his teammates haven't been able to convert.

That includes Bill Arnold, who, from my limited viewing probably doesn't have top 6 upside in the NHL. Maybe a bottom 6 role but he still has lots of developing to do.

Back to Johnny though, he's actually quite decent in the defensive zone. Sure some shifts, he's way out cherry picking, but when he decides to back check, he's a bit like Datsyuk in that he anticipates the opposition's offensive attack and breaks things up with his stick or steals the puck.

As for the physical aspect of his game, the kid is really smart and knows that he can't compete with strength so he doesn't. He competes and battles, but not through strength, but rather through his smarts. He anticipates and uses his quickness to disrupt.

I hope we have our very own Patrick Kane on our hands. His puck control, agility & speed are Kane-esque, and his attitude is a significant upgrade. Sky's the limit for this kid. Hope they sign him up as soon as the NCAA season is finished.

Ill admit I was concerned about a Schultz situation with Johny ...after all why would he want to come to the flames based on last season.
What the organization has done to turn things around in terms of prospects and showing future potential has me thinking there is no way he dips on us!

It’s awesome to see. I’m not even playing for the Flames yet. I’m just a drafted prospect and it’s awesome to see how into it they are. Especially college hockey. Canada’s more of an OHL or WHL kind of thing, but to see how involved they are with college hockey in the United States, it’s awesome to think. I want to thank them alot, I appreciate all the help I’m getting from them. It really excites me that I’m drafted to Calgary from all the fans and how close they are to hockey and how involved they are.
