Leland was given chances both prior and post that game.
And he isnt an NHL goaltender.

But he IS the best goaltender outside the NHL. Sounds like we should probably sign him.

They're currently at 7-4-0-1 and tied for 1st in the Western Conference. I'd rather they give Ortio and Brossoit a chance to run with it. No need for a repeat of Taylor.

You mean if he sucks, CP will explode and demand to get rid of him after one game OR if he plays well, CP will demand to give him the starting job until the end of the season.
Me, i like that Hartley play him against one of the best team in the league. Welcome to the NHL Berra!

Flames might still be able to trade Joey. They traded Karlsson after he cleared waivers and traded Russell after he cleared as well

True, another team might want Mac now knowing that he can be sent down if need be in the next month. I just can't see who that would be?

In 3 NHL games prior to the Boston game he posted a .945 save percentage. Starting him against one of the strongest teams in the league for his 4th game was a mistake & he was hardly given a chance afterwards.
Irving's "bad performances" were in games where the team didn't show up. No defense & no backchecking, and then Feaster called out Irving in the media & made him the 3rd-string goalie in Abbotsford. Honestly, the way he was handled was a complete joke. It would have rattled ANY goalie, let alone a 22/23-year old. It's obvious Feaster didn't like the cut of his jib, choosing instead to bring in 30-something journeyman back-up Joey Mac instead of nurturing a prospect who needed some slack.
He's still only 25 & I could see a team bringing him back to the NHL in a couple of years.

Since we are talking about ex-goaltenders I feel I should say Curtis McElhinney has been really good for a few games with the Jackets.

No he's not. If he were putting those numbers in the KHL maybe.

I'm sure he was joking.
The most you can say is that he's in the top-10 in Finland. We'll see where he ends up at the end of the season when the goalies are easier to distinguish.
I think he's essentially playing for a spot on the KHL team when Jokerit transfers there.

They have a new comedy station on AM radio, give it a listen to loosen those joints.

I know it's a joke and all, but he's not even close to being best outside the NHL

MacDonald can be the back-up in the AHL. Let Ortio get all the starts. Keep Brossoit in the ECHL for the starts.

Is it possible to demote him even further? I mean I hate that he's going to be taking time away from guys who actually need it and have a future. Could they just send him to the ECHL or something?
I hear Siberia is nice this time of year....

The Islanders starting goalie in the AHL currently has a GAA of 3.65 and an 0.875 SV%. Because their Division is so awful this year, they have a good chance of making the playoffs, so Joey could be an acquisition to have waiting if they have injury trouble.

This is true only if you completely pretend last year didn't happen.
