Flames Third Jersey Thread

Didn't really like them on TV. Something about the white numbers on the back rubbed me the wrong way. As a fan from the 80's I didn't like seeing the lack of gold either.

Echo those that already said they look too much like NJ.

I do like the cowboy cut shoulders.

Saw them for the first time live tonight. Just terrible. The font, the black shoulders, the Calgary script (because we ripped the Canucks jerseys - hypocrites) and the small C.

The patch is pretty good. Too busy to be any bigger though.

Butler's reaction during the 1st intermission when asked about the new jerseys was hilarious... "they're interesting... I think maybe they'll grow on people".

Man those jerseys look great on TV. Love them more every time I see them, can't wait to get one this Christmas ... only question is which player. Giordano? Brodie? Money? Probably Money.

Name bars and numbers look good, maybe just because it's different. Makes the jersey look a lot better then a blank one because of the white contrast.

Also just saw the socks that are being worn with this uniform, with the bottom 1/3 black. They give the effect of black tube socks with stripes at the top, pulled up.

Or, the look/ effect of wearing soccer shin pads with black socks. Different look for sure.

Either way, adds more black to overall uniform to a uniform that really needs less black.

They look as ugly on TV as they did in photos. The only way I would buy one is if they go on clearance for $35. Hopefully this only lasts for one season.

I liked the high visibility of the numbers but that was about it. Even with the script and logo they didn't say Calgary Flames to me. I'd go back to the retro as the standard uniforms and use the current red jersey as the alternate.

This jersey gets worse the more I see it. I hoped it would look better in person but no. I saw quite a few people wearing it around downtown on Firday. Yuck! (for lack of a better word)

The jersey looks like they asked 5 people (Flames ownership group / management ?) what they wanted. Then they got answers like western theme, cursive text logo, retro style logo, current logo, current colour scheme. Then they couldn't decide which one to choose so they decided to incorporate all of the ideas. Junk!

Also surprised all the media love these are getting. Even a Flames critic like Francis saying he loves them and they're gorgeous. Did the team call in some favours and ask for some love?

I like this third jersey more after seeing the players wear it on the ice. Yes, they do look a lot like the Devils, but I've always thought that NJ had a great uniform. It's like the girl that reminds you of a hot Hollywood starlet.

I'm also optimistic that the Flames will go full retro with our home and away primaries in the very near future.

I though the jerseys were terrible on tv. From afar the team looked like the Panthers, and from up close the hokey-pokey logo looked like a Zellers-special generic team jersey.

Also, I just don't see why this team can't stick to red/yellow/white. That's the Flames at their best. All the black just muddles things up.

I'm a little surprised that the majority of comments posted after we've had the chance to see them live are still quite opposed to the new look and design.

I was pretty down on the jersey's after the EA leak and again after the unveiling, but actually I thought they looked pretty good last night. I still think I would prefer some of the other designs posted here on CP, but actually, I think this new 3rd is a pretty cool jersey in its own right.

I wonder if there would be any merit to starting a new poll now that we've seen the new threads in game action. I suspect the vote would be much more even. I know I would be one of the flip-floppers!

When I saw the leak, I didn't think they were great, but I still was optimistic.

When I saw the unveiling I thought "you know, they aren't quite as bad, but I don't think in crazy about them".

When I walked through the mall yesterday and saw a Baer jersey hanging on the rack, I got up close, and you know what? I really liked it. Really smooth, love the little details, and it's a pretty unique jersey (despite the similarity to the Devils jersey). The number font is close, and the shoulders from the back are close, but other than that they aren't similar at all. The Devils don't have a monopoly on red and black, they've been using it near the same amount if time as we have, and quite frankly the yellow (even though it's minimal) is so apparent that it kind of jars me away from the Devils comparison.

Then I saw them live, and you know what? It dropped off a little. The reason is simple: the pants. If you're going for a classic look I don't see why you'd have two diagonal stripes going down the pant. One stripe, straight down, or no stripes at all.

Otherwise, overall they make a good third. They don't scream "Flames" to me, but as a third jersey that we wear once in a while I think they're just fine.

Looked worse on TV than in the pictures. The wordmark and logo just seemed weird, hard to see, and cluttered. It didn't appear to be the right size or centered properly from my viewpoint. If someone offered me an authentic one for free I'd offer them money in return to take it away. Hideous. Losing in these jersey's only make them more unbearable. I hope we lose every game with these things on so we can ditch them.

If you are one of those persons that likes to collect jerseys then this one will be a good one because I don't think it has legs. Can't see it selling that great at all as it just doesn't look like a Flames jersey. I felt like I was watching the Devils last night at times.

still cant believe we have these over retros. i wasn't even a huge fan of the retros but these things are brutal. never understood word marks. Leave those for the nba. terrible jersey. We have some of the worst jerseys in the league but have one of the best logos and some of the best colours. Hope no one buys these amateur looking things

Just saw the highlights from the game last night and boy do those jerseys look bad. Don't look anything close to a "Flames" jersey. Todd Macfalrlane's ball of crap was better than this.

Was at the game last night - thought the jerseys looked pretty good live. Also, the comments around our section were pretty much all positive.
