Down so much, late in the game, the whole "line brawl" thing seemed lame. and bush league...Emery appears to have charged down on Holtby with intent, heading up ice even as the first fight began...even though Holtby was completely uninvolved in the initial skirmish...Suspension for Emery would be appropriate...Simmons, Schenn, and Lecav should all be suspended too...Simmons ran one guy and boarded another to start the mess...Schenn and Vinny were 3rd and 4th in (Razor being 2nd) ..Fines for the coach and franchise too

Some of you posters act like such dinks to other posters for no reason. If you are still this full of piss and vinegar at the end of the day, consider volunteering your time to a local charity/non-profit so you don't have the energy to be this way when you sit down with your PC to relax.

Edit: This post is not restricted to this thread, there is some of it here, but is a general sentiment.

No Major shashing penalty so no, and Hextall would have been more than willing and not forced to fight.

This is fighting at its very worst. A team gets beat on the scoreboard so they goon it up. Hate it

I liken what Emery did to someone like Jackman chasing down a Backlund or Baertschi for a fight. Unless they did something really stupid or horribly bad (which Holtby didn't) then its a low move IMO, scoreboard or not. Coaches can also put out different players if they know a brawl is coming or a game is getting out of hand but a goalie is stuck in there no matter what.

Funny it was Berube that chased down Jeff Friesen during our Ducks brawl in 2001 and now he's the coach of the Flyers

Rest of the scrapping was entertaining though!

My tone on fighting is definitely changing but I don't think you brush them all with one broad stroke. The staged goon fights can definitely go, automatic 10 for dropping the gloves for no reason. Hated McGrattin's fight against the Leafs but had no problem with O'brien's. One had some context within the game the other didn't.

I would be fine with a minimum of 10 for Emery there worse than what Scott did.

It's as though people think Emery is actually a goon wearing goalie pads that happened to pick on a star player. Reign it in.

That's a possible cause, sure, but we should also be clear that it is not caused by steroids of the performance enhancing nature, but rather it has in extremely rare cases been caused by injections made to lessen the pain of bad joints.

I wouldn't say that's a clear cause, but it's been loosely connected to AVN.

There is a lot of crap going on there the league needs to look at.

Emery should be gone. That ref/linesman also done.

How bout Schenn. Love the popping off the other guys helmet and leaving ur own visor and helmet on. Not suspension stuff but gutless.

I actually like fighting in hockey. But man there is no honor in this.

Emery should have grabbed one of the skaters instead of Holtby. He doesn't have to go after the other goalie just because he's a goalie.

That's pretty crazy that the Caps had pretty much their toughest guys out there (less Erskine) and no one could protect Holtby. Plus they lost all their fights to the Flyers best players too.

You have to feel for Downie, getting traded, getting punched in the head like that and now out with a concussion apparently.

I wouldn't say that Wilson lost his fight to Simmonds and it isn't like Urbom is that tough of a player even though he is big. The guys the Flyers had out were as big fighters as the Caps were and it wasn't like they had their best players like Giroux, Voracek, Timmonen or Streit out there fighting.

After watching it again, that official should be fired. He's standing right there, it's not like he's tied up with another fight, Holtby clearly doesn't want to fight, get in there and break it up.

They come in so quick when you have two willing combatants and yet stand there and do nothing when a guy doesn't want to fight at all.

What the hell is wrong with that official? Fire him!

Officials are NOT allowed to stop a fight unless there are 2 of them...prevents some guy from getting cold cocked if a ref has him tied up....

No, the ref should not get fired!
