One of the other things I noticed, Monahan wasn't backing down in any of the scrums last night. I have been watching a lot of games on FF lately so maybe it isn't a new thing.
Not saying I want the guy scrapping but he isn't acting like a shrinking violet....nice to see.
Wonder if Big Ern told him to go do whatever he wants too lol.

I continue to enjoy these games no matter the score. The team actually hustles all over the ice. Much better than watching Iggy and Tanguay who gave little or no effort if the puck wasn't on their stick. A joy to watch a hard working team and just a vastly different approach to the game than the last few easily forgettable years.

I loved when Phaneuf was "strong arming" Monahan after a whistle, and Sean was laughing at him. Great poise on the kid.

I thought Colborne's icetime was well deserved. Almost every time he touched the puck he was creating some plays, being harder to contain down low, he played well. Say what you want about scratching Backlund but Colborne was making plays and using his body. Thumbs up Joe.

#flames Mikael Backlund back in lineup vs Wings. Hartley says Joey MacDonald will be in goal
JermainFranklin@TSNJFranklin18m
#Flames Hartley said there are certain expectations for each player Backlund wasn't meeting his and that's why he was scratched last night the important thing is Backlund understands exactly why he didn't play: he needs more intensity in the offensive end. #Flames

Flames deserved a better fate last night.
I haven't really expected much from this Flames team from the start but I find myself watching more of the games then I was in previous seasons. This years version of the Flames just plays with much more creativity and urgency and as a fan it's a much more enjoyable experience to watch them.
I still don't think they will be a playoff team but at least now, you can see where they have specific holes that need to be filled compared to previous years where you just didn't know what it was.

Good grief... Okey, Hartley why don't you try starting him somewhere in the actual vicinty of the offensive end and give him some time on the PP? It's harder to show "intensity" in the offensive end if you always start him in the defensive end and have him play a big proportion of his minutes when the team is down a man.

Don't know if this was brought up in the game thread (my apologies if it was), but flipping between the World Series deciding game and this game, the contrast between the 88-year-old Red Sox fan who hasn't missed a game in 60-some years and the clowns who sell tickets to Canucks and Leafs fans here is quite disgusting.

When you pay someone else's bills, you can tell them what you want done with their money. If an opposing team's fan is willing to give a STH $400 for a pair of tickets that only cost the STH $75, it might be worth it to that STH. That one game just covered 13% of the STH cost and may allow the fan to attend a few more games if he is strapped for cash and/or shares his seats with someone else. Maybe a STH sells all the tickets to the Toronto, Montreal, Pittsburgh and Boston games to opposing fans, and then can afford to go to the other 37 games. This STH might not be able to attend any games if it weren't for reselling tickets. Yes, I expect muta to make his infamous $100k line soon after this is posted.
Ideally every STH would go to every home game, wear red, and cheer loudly for the Flames. This is in no way possible. Some people can't go to games, for whatever reason. They then have the decision to give the tickets away or sell them. It makes a lot of sense to receive as much money as possible if you are selling them. It would be hard to turn down 4-5 times what someone else is willing to pay, just because that person wears a different colour jersey. That doesn't make the seller a clown or disgusting. Your comments are offensive.

Your comments, while not offensive IMO, do approach the realm of nonsensicality. And I'd be curious to know how much you DID get for your tickets, oh contrarian one.

How are my comments nonsensical? I'm saying that it's tough to attend all 41 home games. I know multiple people, mostly students and restaurant industry staff, who sell the premium games in order to be able to attend the other games for almost no cost. If they didn't do this, they wouldn't be able to be a STH, nor would they be able to attend anywhere near as many games as they do now. As they progress through their careers, they'll likely go to these games when money becomes less of an impediment. I think it's wrong to call someone a clown for selling their tickets, especially to a premium game.
I have four tickets in the green section. I received $800 for the lot. I don't feel one bit of remorse for this. Those people were going to pay for tickets to see the game anyways, and I don't mind being the recipient of their money. Especially for a regular season game, you won't be able to shut out all the opposition's fans. Being that there are a large number of people in Calgary from Toronto, and the Leafs only come to Calgary a maximum of one time per year, odds are they are going to find a way to get in the building. You might be able to shut the vast majority out if it was the Stanley Cup Finals, but that's because we all want to be there for that. If I miss a Wednesday night game in October, I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.
It would have been even better had Calgary won last night, as they would have paid $800 to see their team lose. Sometimes I sell the pair beside me, for about double what I paid, and it's like that couple has paid for my tickets to the game. When I go to another team's rink, I understand there's the potential for a premium on the tickets. If I want to see the game, I'll pay it. That's the cost for me to attend, and if it's too high, I won't go. I usually buy from a STH, as I feel more comfortable over the transaction, and have recourse if things go wrong.

Your the clown buddy.
Can't make every game because I have a budget so I sell a couple which helps me to keep my game pack and support the Flames through 5 or 6 other games..this year, the Leafs game is an easy sell..that was ridiculously judgmental.
I sold mine for face so i made about $12 extra...is that ok with you? Should I make super duper sure the tickets I give to Kids up Front every year go to a Flames fan?

I'll have to admit you make some good arguments here if you look at it from a micro-perspective. But carrying this sort of thinking to a macro-level leads to the Flames home arena being packed with, at the worst case scenario, Canuck and Leaf fans, many of whom behave like utter boneheads.
If you can live with that, I guess the subsidization argument can be a compelling one.
And I still think that old Red Sox fan is a pretty cool guy.

That makes it even worse to sell them to a Leafs fan. I'm sure you could have found a Flames fan willing to pay face value for the game.
I can understand the argument (but don't agree with it) that you can rip off the stupid Leafs fans by selling your tickets for 4 times face value and using that money to pay for your other tickets, but selling them to Leafs fans for face value is the worst case scenario.

I'm sure if the old red sox fan was reading your posts, he probably wouldn't think the same about you. Some fans can't go to every game, I know if I had tickets and someone offered me a lot more for them, I'd probably sell them so I could go to other games or help pay for things that I actually need. Life changes for everyone you know, maybe the person sold their ticket because they lost their old job and need money to pay for food for their family and instead of going to the game they're picking up an extra shift at their new job.
If someone buys tickets, they can do whatever the heck they want with them. They don't have to run it by everyone on the internet to see if its ok.

Selling your tickets to fans, regardless the team they cheer, for a profit is 100000% fine.

Assuming you're talking at me and that you're serious in the scenarios you cite, sell away dude.
But please, for God's sake, think of the children who have to put up with a rink full of obnoxious enemy fans. It's not all about you, you know.
And, pray tell, what does the old Red Sox fan think about my dog's shiny water bowl?

Touched a nerve, did I? Inadvertent, I assure you.
No, it's not OK...you should have made them pay through the nose. And yes, you should make super duper sure.

He thinks that you could have just used a regular bowl and the extra money you spent on a shiny one would have gone to the Flames if you were a real fan
And I was talking to you, not at you.
