I use it almost exclusively for supplementary transportation. I have two vehicles to split between me and my wife, but I take the bus in to work instead of drive. I find that sometimes Car2go works better than transit or taxi at odd times, like going to a bar you plan on taking a taxi from, or coming home from a hockey game, or if I need to swing by home during lunch. That alone makes it worth it, especially as I got the account with a free pass.
Now, I was in the states a few weeks ago, and I noticed that there were car2go in that town too. I asked if my account was transferable, and they said it wasn't outside of Canada now, but they are working on making it a reality by the end of the year. I can just imagine how much more useful a Car2go would be on vacation if I can fly and use it.

Huh, I thought our Car2Go membership was good everywhere they had them. USA, and Europe. I do hope they get that fixed up.

They said it had to do with insurance and privacy laws. You could use it in another country, but you had to give them a copy of your driving record, and they had to process it in order for you to be properly fitted out for the USA.

Bumping this thread about information on "Uber", a sedan service that is offering rides today through Sunday in Calgary for FREE with a $5 donation to the Calgary Foundation through their app.
http://blog.uber.com/calgary
https://www.uber.com/
It looks to be a flat rate sedan service, however that is against current Calgary bylaws. Uber wants in and is doing this promotion to make some noise and have people get on the city to change the bylaw.

I'm at work and can't locate, but Car2Go claims big news next week. They have posted a photo of pretzels and asks for guesses on their facebook page

I wonder if the airport will become part of the home zone? However if that is the case it would be interesting to see how they deal with parking.

hells no, the last thing we need is a bigger donut with commuters taking them home where they won't be any use til the next day. If anything I think they need to shrink the area to the more dense communities.

Looks like we now have car2go service at the airport!
Parking your car2go for departure from YYC:
There are six designated stalls against the Park2Go Value Valet building. Ensure you end your trip in one of the six designated stalls.
Remove all of your belongings and end your trip.
You must end your trip. No stopovers are allowed.
Proceed to the Park2Go Value Valet shuttle and head to the airport.
Picking up your car2go after arriving in YYC:
Upon your arrival at the Calgary International Airport and picking up your luggage, open the car2go app on your smartphone to check the availability of cars at Park2Go Value Valet*. Be sure to reserve a car to avoid another member taking the vehicle. Reservations expire after 30 minutes.
After you’ve reserved your car, exit “Meeting Place B” doors on the arrivals level and proceed to Post 3 to meet the Park2Go Value Valet shuttle. Let the driver know you are picking up a car2go at Park2Go Value Valet. Do NOT rely on the shuttle driver to let you know if there is an available car2go at Park2Go Value Valet. Check your app!
Stay on the shuttle and you will be dropped off outside the Park2Go Value Valet office at your car2go where you can begin your trip.
Drive back to the car2go Home Area and end your trip at your final destination.

A $10 charge on the trip is still a heck of a bargain versus airport parking.
I use Park2Go all the time, they run a pretty good operation. The only downside is they won't start up your Car2Go and get it warmed up for you. I love that with Park2Go.

You can park in the overflow at the Park2Go lot in that case.

Damn, I was hoping for free pretzels. But this is still pretty nice, beats hell out of taking a cab from downtown or finding someone to drive you.

I'm really starting to loathe Car2Go. I realize the alternative is "no car2go", and logically therefore having it available should be better than nothing at all, but I'm becoming less and less able to convince myself that that's true given the number of times it's pissed me off.
On the off chance I can find a car available within a 5 block radius of where I need one, a large portion of the time I get an error when I try to reserve it. I'd say this happens probably 50-60% of the times I try to reserve. Which is really annoying.
However, it's NOTHING compared to what's happened to me twice this week (and about 10 times since summer), which is that I successfully reserve a car, walk to where it is on the map and... no car. It's nowhere to be found. I walked all the way there, usually out of my way, to try to get the god$%*( thing and it isn't there. My phone app says it's right where I'm standing, but no dice.
Hilariously the phone app also has no "help" feature or ability to press a button to call customer support. Likely because they'd be inundated by callers complaining about walking around in the cold looking for non-existent cars.

My experiences have been pretty much the complete opposite of yours. No problems reserving using the app (both apple and blackberry), and only once has my car been a "ghost" and not there when I got to where it was supposed to be. I tweeted with them about it and got a call shortly afterwards from their office, and they gave me something like 30 free minutes for the hassle.

I know. I've called it a couple of times and got basically no help other than an apology for the inconvenience. "Well the GPS says it's there... maybe it's somewhere down the block in a parkade?"

There are people that park their car2gos off alleyways and in lots where they have no business being. I've gotten adept at finding the most likely spots near my place where these idiots leave them.
It's not difficult. Don't leave it in a private lot, and don't leave it in a business' lot unless you're at that business and you're coming back to the car.
