Feaster isn't the only person to make that claim. When you're the best goalie in the best league outside the NHL, people will make that assumption.

What made him the best goalie in the KHL?
Others had better stats, he didn't win any awards (outside of a few goalie of the months and he was never the All-Star/Golden Helmet goalie at the end of the year.
If anything we should be getting Alexander Eremenko over as he appears to be the best goalie in the "best league outside of the NHL."

Say what you will about goaltending but I've never seen a defender do a slide AWAY from a play to try and break it up before, especially Clarkson! He gave him all the space he needed! Brutal play by Butler cost us this game IMO.

I have zero problems with Colborne's ice time tonight. I thought his play has been getting increasingly better, and tonight he was pretty solid as well.
Plus, this is a kid with a lot of potential still who they got for dirt cheap. This is exactly the perfect time to play the heck out of him to see what he may turn out to be. If this was a veteran-laden team that was a definite Cup contender and they were playing an unknown commodity like that then maybe I'd be wondering what was going on. But this is the perfect season to let him loose and see what he can do. And so far, he's been gaining confidence and looking better in all 3 zones. I don't expect him to play over 23 minutes too many more times this season, but tonight I thought it was justified.
Oh, that 2nd goal tonight was the killer. NHL goalies should not be letting in shots like that.

Why don't you ever post after a Flames player has a good game?

Any reason why Baertschi's getting so little ice-time? Most of his shifts result with a good offensive opportunity and he's always back defensively. He had a beauty backhand pass to Monahan and two nice dangles around Leafs defensemen.

Feaster should've gone after Bernier

A shorthanded goal with 4 seconds left in the period that most Pee Wee goalies would stop was the reason the team lost.
Just an absolute 'must-stop' shot there. He can't let that in.

meh
Crosscheck with a minute + left and Hudler goes down easy
Ref calls it and Calgary is + 2 men, and likely sends this one to OT, Ref doesn't and the offender nets the empty cage salting this one away.
#24 is likely thinking that would have been called in Detroit

Would anyone complaining about the pulled goalie have questioned it if it worked? At worst that decision is a coin flip, but I would lean to the side of pulling him when he did.
Didn't catch the entire game (so I don't know if the time was well deserved, but based on comments so far it doesn't seem to have been), but is it possible Burke gave a directive to play Colborne a lot tonight to try to show the Leafs that he fleeced them?
My other conspiracy annoyance is that TSN only replayed the cross-check on Hudler from the worst possible angle?

That kind of "crosscheck" is rarely called and allowed to happen all the time in the NHL.
Hudler was way too soft and that is where the blame should go not trying to whine for penalties on a marginal (at best) play.

I thought Baertchi had a great game. I think (hope) that he is being called out so much because the staff thinks he can be even better and are challenging him to reach his potential.

It's cause he can't finish yet and the puck seems to fly off his stick a lot. I think his ice time will increase as he gets more confident. I just hope the Flames are patient with him. Give him a full season at least.

How many hookers would we have to send to Gillies dorm room before the NCAA deemed him ineligible?

That seems highly, highly unlikely as a. doubt the Leafs would think that no matter what happened in one game and b. it is much more likely that as was mentioned Colborne's improved play was what lead to him getting more ice time. The fact that he played well tonight backs up that reasoning as well.
The Leafs had evaluated Colborne to the point that they were willing to deal him for a 4th round pick. It is hard to imagine they would see him play tonight and say "damn, we got fleeced." Plus, if he hadn't earned those minutes and Burke forced the Flames to play him that much it is much more likely the Leafs would have watched and said "see solid move getting rid of that bum."

You should watch the game with the sound on. Ferraro went in or two minutes about how the leafs bench was yelling at Ashton not to fight jackman, while jackman was trying to fight ashton

I was about to make a point to the people disparaging the Leafs (I am as big a hater as any) that it was their second game in 2 nights, but then I remembered that last night was just a loose game of shinny for them.
