Overrated Player. But a nice guy.
Glad we have Monahan and a more balanced Forward roster.

Highest garbage content post I've seen recently. I love Iginla but I never said the Flames shouldn't trade him. I always wondered how some fans could boo Mike Vernon's parents at home games. Turns out, it's "fans" like you. Your post has nothing to do with Pittsburgh or Boston.
It's nice to see Iginla still having success. He's always been a great player, but he's not ageless. Whether or not he was a "hindrance" to Calgary's rebuild is irrelevant, that's on the owners and management.
Iginla polarized a minority of posters/fans who thought the guy was a total cancer. The rest are fanboys I guess.

I cheer for the front crest of the jersey not the back. I am not going to get into an Iginla debate with all the Iginla fans on here.
He is a great guy (I've met him) but my hockey opinions of him aren't popular so ill leave it at that.
Pertaining to this thread debate - I believe Iginla is more suited to the Pens style of play

I wish they would change the name of the franchise to the Calgary Iginla's.

I wouldn't have wanted to sign him to the amount that Boston did, rather a 3-4 year deal that would pay him at an average salary and cap hit for a second line player, say $4 mill per season. Similar to Alfredsson.
I have no problem saying that I want my young prospects learning how to compete, learning how to prepare off ice, and learning how to be a professional from the most consistent goal scorer since the year 2000.

I disagree. A change of culture was needed. Desperately needed. It didn't matter if we changed all 19 other players around Iggy, or if he played 2nd 3rd or 4th line. As long as he was here, the culture around the team would have been the same.
Trading Iginla is easily the biggest move the club has made since the Gilmour trade. It was needed. The team plays differently now, and IMO thats a direct result of Iginla moving.

I wish nothing but success for Iggy with the Bruins. I hope he pots 30 again this year just to shut his naysayers up.

Iggy needed to go for psychological reasons. Even if he played for $1, I wanted him gone. Great guy, great Flame, but this team was stuck in Purgatory without him. This years team is like a breath of fresh air...last years team felt like slow-death.
He will always be one of this teams best, but it's time to move on. He already did. And I think most Flames fans did as well.

I would've liked to see Iggy traded for a first at the deadline, then re-signed to a one year deal and get traded again for a first at the deadline, and then re-signed to another one year deal, then get traded again for a first at the deadline. He could be the player that keeps giving us 1sts!

I think him and Kiprusoff really needed to go to get the old mentality of the team. It wasn't Iginla's team anymore and they couldn't ask Kiprusoff to do everything for them. With both gone, the Flames really have become Feaster's and Hartley's team.

Players waiting include Blake, Markarov, Lindros, Tkachuk, Housley, Andreychuk, Lemieux, Brind'Amour, Kariya, Carbonneau, Barrasso, and Nolan. So yeah there's no way any of those guys are elected into the Hall of Fame before Iginla would be. So that would only depend on who retires in the next few years before Iggy does.

-first black man to win a gold medal in the winter Olympics
-Mark Messier leadership award winner

The only possible way that Iginla waits is if Jagr, Crosby, Ovechkin, Selanne and Brodeur retire the exact same year. They are the only players in the league who have a stronger resume than Iggy.
