I guarantee the Oilers call one of those 'players only' meetings tomorrow. You know, like they do every year about this time.

According to 630 ched, injuries are the problem. They are exhausted because Hall who they just called a "stud" was soaking up 20 minutes a game.

@JamesCybulski I'm wondering if Dallas Eakins would've taken one of his old Marlies squads against the Leafs tonight instead?

Remember this one from Elliotte Friedman a few weeks back?

From 2005-06 through 2011-12, just three of 32 teams who were four points out of a playoff position on November 1 recovered to make it.

Well, this was the Oilers' final game of October, and they're currently 8 points back of the final wildcard playoff spot in the West. They could be 9 or 10 back by the time the jack-o-lanterns are blown out.

I believe this is when they sort out the dates for their golf games starting at season's end.

Edmonton is shockingly bad at hockey.

They'll always have a higher than average shot percentage.
No, it's been quite clearly established that trailing teams attempt more shots on net as their game plan shifts. In tonight's game shots and shot attempts were dead even when the 2nd Toronto goal was scored, after which they tilted in favor of Edmonton as is normally the case.

It's true Toronto likely will have a higher than average shooting percentage because they have talented shooters, but even with that they've generally been pretty mediocre 5-on-5 this season as coming into tonight they were only a +1 at 5-on-5. Their special teams (including their .939 PK sv%) has been a big part of their success so far and they'll need to maintain those numbers if they want to make up for their pedestrian ES play.

Regardless of situation, tiredness shouldn't be an issue 13 games into the season...

The problem with the Oilers being so terrible is that tomorrow's advantage of playing a team on the second game of a back-to-back is ruined. The Flames probably broke a bigger sweat laughing at the Oilers than the Leafs did playing them.

Given the West's dominance of the East I could see it taking 100+ points to make it this year. That means they'd need to play .675-.700 hockey starting next game for the next 68, which is basically a President's Trophy level record most years. They're done.

Eakins is partly to blame as well.........last change and he kept throwing out RNH's line against Kessel? He either has Kessel in his hockey pool or he's given up already and doesn't care. Surely he didn't believe it was a good matchup.
