Middlebrooks is under the microscope for more than that play, his weak attempt to catch a grounder that cashed 2 runs and his inability to hit the ball let alone get on base. Strike out machine the kid is not ready for prime time

Strange finishes to the past two games but how do you make a mental error like that to end game 4. Taking the bat out of your most clutch players hands when your team is down 2 runs in the 9th. All the guy had to do was run, stealing a base was moot as they needed two and he gets picked off. Thats unreal to me.

Id just like to say how impressive Napoli has been at first base this year he has been extremely solid at a position he hadnt played prior to this year.

Napoli played first before this year. He was listed at C/1B his entire time in Texas. Whenever the backup catcher would get the start, he'd be on first base.

His hips are bad which is why he wouldn't entertain going behind the plate. Which is unfortunate has he calls a hell of a game.

I'm a big Napoli fan. I think I said on here, I know I did to friends, that I wanted Texas to resign Napoli over Hamilton if they had to pick one.

He's great in the locker room and at the plate. He's solid defensively as well. He's another reason I want Boston to win. I'm also pleasantly surprised by Uehara. He had the tendency to give up the long ball, but has been fairly clutch in Boston, a fairly small park.

Wasnt aware he had played first before i figured maybe a couple spot starts but to have been full time this year he has been nothing short of fantastic in my opinion. I leaves me wanting more from him at the plate seems he strikes out a ton and is quite streaky but at 5m he has been a huge part of the team.

I do remember you commenting on that turns out you were right and lucky they didnt sign hamilton either

Uehara has been unreal hes the season mvp in my opinion with all the injuries this year he has been lights out. That scoreless streak of 29 something innings was pretty unbelievable

Ps. the beard alone is reason enough to love napoli

I really hate Johnny Gomes!

I should back this up that Johnny is one heck of a bench player. And I don't know why the media is so shocked that he came up huge again. I just don't like how he is a Rays killer after the club let him go. I will always appreciate the drinks he purchased for me during the '08 season before the run started! Guy loves to party and I like that

Pathetic by the Cardinals two games in a row.

Why work do hard to make it to the World Series only to no show?

For a team that hits so well the Red Sox pitchers have had their way with the Cards.

David Ortiz has been amazing but the Cardinals AB's have been atrocious.

I normally don't like teams winning championships on the road but I will make an exception for the Cards to steal this series from the Sox

Gold Glove winners were announced: http://www.sbnation.com/mlb/2013/10/...wards-mlb-2013

I'm happy for Dickey picking up the gold glove for the AL Pitchers. Also a nice amount of smaller market teams having players picking up awards (Baltimore, Kansas City, Milwaukee, Denver).

Congrats to the winners:

American League

C: Salvador Perez (Royals)
1B: Eric Hosmer (Royals)
2B: Dustin Pedroia (Red Sox)
3B: Manny Machado (Orioles)
SS: J.J. Hardy (Orioles)
LF: Alex Gordon (Royals)
CF: Adam Jones (Orioles)
RF: Shane Victorino (Red Sox)
P: R.A. Dickey (Blue Jays)

National League

C: Yadier Molina (Cardinals)
1B: Paul Goldschmidt (Diamondbacks)
2B: Brandon Phillips (Reds)
3B: Nolan Arenado (Rockies)
SS: Andrelton Simmons (Braves)
LF: Carlos Gonzalez (Rockies)
CF: Carlos Gomez (Brewers)
RF: Gerardo Parra (Diamondbacks)
P: Adam Wainwright (Cardinals)

Remember all of those experts that said the Blue Jays would be here, and the Red Sox in the AL East basement?

Hahahaha, the Jays. Congrats Boston.

Best part of this win is that it was completely unexpected. Felt similar to the 04 flames. Just a great group of guys coming together no real superstars (sub Iginla and Papi) and just playing together for the ultimate prize.

I love the motto, started from the bottom, I feel that and the Boston bombings were a rallying point and the whole blood sweat and beards were just amazing team building. I love this team and doubt I'll be attached to another pro sports team as closely as this one. It rivals the 04 sox team and 04 flames as my favorites of all time and might just be at the top when all is said and done.

A truly deserved championship by a great group of guys!

They deserved the win for sure and it was unexpected. However, they have the 4th highest payroll in baseball, lets not paint them as the little team that could like the '04 Flames.
