I would like to see the Flames give guys like Cundari, Wotherspoon, Sieloff and Ramage a shot.

I'd also like to see them unload Butler and O'Brien.

I think we'll see Cundari this year and maybe Ramage who is physically mature and mentally mature. I think Wotherspoon and Sieloff are going to get a full year in the A though.

Cundari's stats look good despite the Heats record.

What is remotely "stay the course" about keeping draft picks and improving that way? Your post is so reactionary it's ridiculous.

Like most things, the answers are more complicated than simple yes or no answers. If the price is right, and you can improve without losing draft picks, you do it. Seems an unlikely scenario, so if something good isn't available, why mortgage the future on it?

I'm not among the group that wants to "see what Wotherspoon, Sieloff and Ramage can do" at an NHL level quite yet. I don't see the reason to push these guys, who only have a few AHL games of professional experience, into full time NHL duty yet... defensemen tend to take longer to develop into NHL players, so I say keep them in the AHL. Sure, give them a few games here and there as injury call ups, but I don't think they should get full time spots on the bottom pairing just yet. We make fun of the Oilers for pushing their young guys onto the NHL roster before they are ready, but it seems like plenty of posters here want the Flames to do the same. Keeping them in the AHL for a year or two = low risk. Bringing them to the NHL to play full time = risky move IMO.

If there was a chance to acquire a top-4 stay at home D, I'd be happy if the Flames did it, if the price was reasonable (especially if Butler was part of the trade).

Minus this road trip whcih we played 2 very good teams, this team has bought in and played well. I don't think we shojld jump ship on anyone quite yet. let them play out some more of the season and gauge them a bit later into the season.

However, in the act of making the team better for the future, I think looking into Goligoski would be a good idea. He has lost favour in Dallas and could be a nice fit even if it does mean getting another offensive player

It is hard to imagine a scenario whereby the flames get a solid d man - be it either a shut-down guy or a qb type without having to give up an important piece.

It would also seem that you would want such a d-man to be signed for the next 4 to 5 years further complicates such an acquisition. It think the next two seasons are about trying to develop some of the guys we have and hopefully we make positive steps forward.

If the right deal comes along, then of course you make it.
