It's white lettering on a red jersey. Probably from the name bar

If it wasn't for the font they used for "Calgary" it might be passable.

*whew* - it won't have a Flyers-esque white name bar.

Upon further examination, I REALLY love the shoulder patch. It very perfectly represents Calgary. You've got the prairies, followed by the view of the mountains, and the giant sun for the sunniest city is Canada and one of the sunniest in North America. I don't know, I just think it's neat that they got a really good representation of Calgary in there without using the cliche stuff like cowboys or horses or oil executives sitting in their offices.
Bravo!

Kinda like this! But nice we can hang on to those elements in the flag but using traditional flames colors.

Agreed, they've done a nice job there.
With the circular nature of the patch, there's also a case for in containing a Chinook arch (although I'm sure that wasn't intended).
In any event, that's the best Flames symbol since the original "C", so they at least got something right on this one.

I'm surprised no one mentioned that the "Mountain" that the C buts up against is actually an "F" so the sun and mountain = CF
Kinda cool!

Just looking at the comments in this thread and considering my own personal feelings; if they had used the shoulder patch on the front of the jersey then it would be sold out for months.
I'm still really bummed out that we're losing the retro 3rds.

One person said it would be cool, but most were in agreeance that the shoulder patch would look pretty tacky as a primary logo.

Yeah, it makes an excellent shoulder patch, one of the top 10 in the league for sure, but wouldn't be as good as the front crest.
On another note, anyone going to the fan fest? I can't decide if it's worth the money or not. I would pay for the wife and I, but then if I want a jersey I haven't really saved much money at all due to the cost of the tickets. Plus, any word on who is going to be scribbling autographs?

This was it here. Not terrible, but definitely not "sold out for months" good. It's a little too busy and minor league looking as a primary logo, but awesome as a shoulder patch.
In fact if I hadn't heard or seen anything about this jersey and then they released this, my reaction would probably be "It looks like they blew up a shoulder patch and made it the logo".

Yeah I think my statement was a little hyperbolic. But I still like the shoulder patch on the front. Just goes to show how different people have different tastes and no jersey can make everyone happy.
Still though, Retro 3rds >>> New 3rds, no matter where they put the patch.

I love this. It makes my heart ache that they choose the word mark instead - because we all know for a fact they considered this too.
When KK was on the radio today and he was talking about the Jersey leak, it kind of sounded like he knew it wasn't very popular and mentioned how many hurdles it takes to release a third in the NHL.
Quite simply the Flames screwed this third up. The Flames have made bigger mistakes before so meh.

Hmm... interesting. Well as long as they know it was a mistake, they can go out and fix it. What exactly did he say?

Considering the huge amount of time and fair chunk of change it takes to get a jersey out, they won't be fixing it soon.
