Default Sabres John Scott suspended indefinitely.

"Scott was suspended pending a disciplinary hearing for a blindside hit to the head that levelled Boston Bruins forward Lou Eriksson in Buffalo’s 5-2 loss a day earlier."

Good. He sucks and should have no place in the NHL.

Rob (Rayzor) Ray on Fan960 this morning thinks that Scott did nothing wrong and its all Ericksson's fault for being too short and playing with his head down.

What a dinosaur.

I'm hearing this a lot today and it's disturbing. Whether he sucks is completely irrelevant. He did what he did and should be suspended. He should not be suspended any more or less than if that same hit had been Chara on Hodgson.

The notion that certain players who aren't as good at hockey should be suspended for longer for the same infraction than guys who are stars is precisely what's wrong - well, one of many things wrong - with NHL supplemental discipline.

It's all good because Bertuzzi's still allowed to play.

I don't mean he sucks at hockey (he does, but irrelevant). I meant that he sucks because he seems to headhunt players (other than the Kessel incident and this hit I don't know any other examples, but that's two in less than a month). If Sidney Crosby blatantly elbowed people in the head and tried to fight players a foot shorter and 100 pounds lighter than him I'd say he had no place in the NHL either. This type of player needs to be removed from the game.

Well, okay, but in that case you're also arguing for removing Shane Doan from the game, who has a long history of hitting guys high with elbows.

Not to mention that John Scott has zero history of supplemental discipline, much less "headhunting" other players. He's a goon, but other than everyone talking about how he can't play and is just a face-puncher, there's no basis for calling him a headhunter.

#### that guy. Get the hell out of the game. To be honest, if fighting wasn't allowed he wouldn't have a roster spot. Just another reason to ban fighting.

Mckenzie made a good point, it's time to start suspending and fining coaches and organizations for this crap.

To be fair to Scott he is much taller than Eriksson. If he was the same height the hit wouldn't have been to the head and no one would have paid any attention to it. The hit also happened a split second after Eriksson got rid of the puck. But every replay I've seen has shown a slow motion version of the hit which makes it seem dirtier than it was.

The hit was illegal but it was far less dirty than the stuff that Kaleta and Lapierre have been suspended for already this season.

No it's definitely a good thing that the crappy hockey players get suspended for longer as 90% of the time when an incident like this occurs, its some plug inflicting damage on a star.

Most star players rarely even hit let alone ignore the puck in order to annihilate someone.

I agree with this to an extent, but they definitely shouldn't go easy on a star player either. I think going after the goon / 4th line plug a little harsher is fine, but the star players shouldn't get off easy just because they're a star.

Until last night, the only problem with Scott was that he was useless.

The Kaletas and Torres' of the world need to go before the Scotts. Hell, Alex Ovechkin has thrown more cheap shots in his career.

He'll get five games though, and deservedly so.

Scott should be suspended and all that, it was a careless hit, but people should tread a little lighter in the trashing of the actual player. I mean, we have TWO "John Scott"'s in Jackman and McGrattan, the only difference being that one of them is great in the locker room.

Let's be honest, Jackman has JUST delivered both a headshot and a butt-end with his stick, and I didn't hear too many people shouting "There's no place for him in hockey!". A little perspective is all.

It's not like Scott is known for this trash, he's just a low talent enforcer, without a history of being any 'dirtier' than Jackman.

No, everyone thought Kessel was dirty, there's a difference. Go take your victimised Leaf rhetoric elsewhere.

Well, in fairness strombad, the majority want Jackman gone. I was hopeful given the way he played the pre-season, but he's pretty much ruined that with the dumb hits you mention.
