Just because Duffy is a liar and a thief doesn't automatically make Harper one.

Well this is why this thread has been resurrected. Duffy has an email trail saying Harper knew all along. It hasn't been released yet but when his lawyer is saying he has this, he prob does.
So does that change your opinion of Harper? prob not since you can't accept the fact that Trudeau is pretty much guaranteed to be the next PM, but it should.

Trudeau will come out and change his stance on the Senate once he realizes how popular Senate reform/abolition is. He will probably say that his feelings on changing the Senate actually originated decade ago during some ski trip

This is crazy! If he were part of a mob he'd be dead by now. I wouldn't be surprised if he spilled the beans about Rob Ford. He's on such a roll.. the Edward Snowden of Canada

I guess the bottom line of this discussion is whether you believe Stephen Harper is a liar. You may not like his politics and his opinions but do you believe he is a dishonest person?
I don't. I think Harper is an honest man. There are many people that are or were in politics that I believe to be honest.... Jack Layton, Paul Martin, Stephan Dion, and Joe Clark for examples.
There are many who I think are out and out liars... Brian Mulroney, Jean Chretien, and Pierre Trudeau for examples.
Until I see incontrovertible proof of Harper's dishonesty, I will believe him and continue to support him.

I can write an e-mail saying you're a child molester. Doesn't make it true though.
Edit: I would take what a defense lawyer says about something being true, with a grain of salt. A defense lawyers job is to represent his client to the best of his abilities. Truth if irrelevant.

Nice to know that while he might not be a liar, having a terrible judge of character is perfectly acceptable. Sure he might continue to nominate incomptent, inept, immoral, law breaking people to positions of power, but he himself is not a liar, so its all good.

How can anyone trust Harper when Rob Fricking Anders is still part of his caucus and he bends over backwards to keep him there.
I guess Harper's kids could have logged into his email account and replied back to Duffy's lawyer and Nigel Wright.....

Would be like the mayor or councillor awarding a contract to a company they owned.

Taxpayers a tired of this crap. I think everyone should get an exemption from paying taxes for at least a year and let the governments learn how to manage money and cut waste.

Lets wait and see what the e-mails say before we string Harper up on the yardarm.
Truth: We know Duffy is a liar.
Truth: Defense lawyers stretch, twist, or ignore the truth all the time in order to best represent their client.
Why should I believe Duffy and his lawyer?

Do you know for a fact that Harper knew Duffy on a personal basis... so well in fact that he was able to judge his character?
Before all this crap happened, by all accounts, Duffy was a well respected media personality who was a known Conservative supporter.
I can see why Harper appointed him to the Senate at the time. Who would have thought he was an expense count cheat? I guess the next time they choose a new Senator they will be calling his or her current or former employer and asking the big question. Does he cheat on his expenses?

And the other two losers he appointed? Just keep burying your head in the sand Rerun, it'll be better for you when reality finally comes crashing down.

How do we know Duffy is a liar? What specifically do we have proof that he lied about?
