I think that was the first gamble the yotes took all night and the puck ends up in the back of the net for Stempniak. They play a great defensive system but my God is that boring hockey. Must be painful to be one of the 5 season ticket holders in that city.

Did anyone else see the score displayed as 2-1 for a moment shortly before the goal?
Weird.

Sorry, misunderstood.
In any event, that team had Ville Niemenen and was therefore crazy and awesome. The Phoenix Coyotes are not crazy and awesome.

I wonder if we had a different goalie in if the Coyotes would have scored at all this game...

Why is Sportsnet pulling highlights from the Coyotes feed of this game during the intermission?

Darryl and Brent Sutter hockey is not Tippet hockey.
This sit back is different.
If anything, the emphasis on disrupting the play in the neutral zone is one of the ways to beat the coyotes' deep trap, with quick counter attacks on an overloaded wing.
My opinion, anyway.

Hartley does not trust "newbies". Horak and Breen with just over 4 minutes of playing time. I would understand it more if the rest of the team did not look so tired from last night.

It's the stretch play we've employed I see working.. however we do it, we are likely only going to get shots off the rush, the coyotes defensive positioning is stellar. Once they get set, every shot is deflected up into the net.

Breen's first NHL game. He's never played at this pace, and he's not the fleetest of foot.
More surprised with Horak's lack of minutes

I think Hartley's doing ok...
Every newbie from Mony to Colborne had to earn the ice time and coaches trust
