He's here for a while. This is year two of a four-year deal.

He actually reminds me of young Joe Nieuwendyk. He goes to the net and always following the puck.

Ramo was horsecrap on breakaways in his first game here. He's been solid ever since. Nice season debut for Cammy, Monahan is money again. Great road win!

Has the longest scoring streak in the league to start the season, our entire offense revolves around Hudler, in that he's the catalyst for so much of it 5 on 5 and on the PP.

Funny how him and Wideman came in last season with lots of criticism, myself included, but are the leaders of the team, and showing their value with more responsibility on their shoulders this year.
Definitely lots of complaints about the value of signing these guys and even though I was supportive of the moves, I had never imagined that the two acquisitions would have become as important to the team as they are now. Very glad to see them with us for a couple more years.

Ryan Lambert still calling Monahan an "average U20 hockey player".

I love the forecheck as I see turnovers and Takeaways all the time. Beautiful

The negatives?
-PK has GOT to improve if the success is to last. With a young inexperienced team, that may be difficult.
-physical push back. Seems like as they got hit more, they started to hit less. You don't have to rock them with every hit, but a little more push back stops the momentum from changing as they hit. After a few hits, the forwards and d were backing up from every even puck battle to go on defense.

Overall, lots more positives that negatives. I wanna see this team in the playoffs (though I don't know if they can keep this up for that long), but they won't if the don't get better on the PK
I would add Colbourne to the good. He is using his big body in both ends of the ice. Very noticeable in his defensive coverage in the third. One play stands out in the third when he shut down a strong Kings cycle by pinning carter to the boards and controlling him. Tough to do.
As for the physical comment, you have to realize that the Kings are a huge physical team, and the Flames are not. I was totally impressed with their pushback and effort while getting pounded for 60 minutes.

This team is so different than the past 7 years. When they started the broadcast with the stat that Kings centremen have not scored this year, I thought for sure that streak would end tonight. It seems , in the past, whenever there was a stat such as that( i.e. so and so hasn't scored in xxx games, opposition PP is on a long o for streak) that it would always end when the played the Flames. When Richards was credited wit the Kings second goal, I thought " here we go again".
When the changed it to Carters goal, I knew we would be fine!! Just a hunch.

This team has tied a game late with the net empty, and scored a regulation winner in the last minute in our first 8 games!! Just a different feeling about this group and I love it

I thought the flames did fairly well being physical against one of the most physical teams in the league. Guys like stempniak, colbourne, Giordano, and even hudler responded to the physical play but no one took dumb penalties. I think Hartley is keeping the reigns on McGrattan for now but will be ready to let him loose when someone crosses a line. Had it not been a 2-2 game, I'm sure McGrattan would have made carcillo pay for the liberties he was taking with ramo and hudler. The good news is no one is taking runs at the kids... I think Hartley will let the beast out of the cage if that starts happening.

For me, this was the most important, and telling, game of the trip.

We knew SJ was playing well and Anaheim is a black hole for the Flames, but LA was going t try and intimidate them, as they have for the last couple years.

And the Kings did try to intimidate them but the Flames just kept coming and never quit. In the last couple years we have seen some games where the Flames showed that they simply didn't want to be on the ice with LA.

So this game was huge and will pay dividends for a long time.

Unfortunately, they are probably pretty banged up and tired for tonight's game - hopefully they can push through

He's not wrong. If you look at NHL players born in 1993, 1994, and 1995 he should be around the middle of that group.

Amazing training camp by Hartley to muster that kind of pushback by the Flames young guys.

The Old Farts once again looked like the weak link out there while the upstarts carried the mail all the way home.

No, he is wrong. The "Average U20 hockey player" is still playing in juniors or the AHL.

If you want to use the most word for word definition the "average U20 hockey player" plays in a mens league

You mean the old farts like Giordano, Hudler, Cammalleri, Wideman and Stempniak?
