I guess, but it isn't really in their best interest. Indeed, now would be the ideal time to "cash out" without having to shoulder the burden for newer home buyers in the butt-fata suburbs.

Not voting strategy no. I think the home builders endorsement may have hurt him though. Ward 7 is home to the University, SAIT, Peace Bridge, 10th St. bike lane and a bunch of rusty containers in a field. Nothing about Ward 7 screams home builders endorsement.

And massive city taxes for infrastructure that they'll never see or use.

Woolley, Harper, Farrell, Carra. All sitting next to each other. This is going to be some seriously pink corner of the Council Chamber...

It's good to see Harper win in Ward 1. Too bad we didn't have any decent alternative to Nenshi. I guess we will see even more tax increases the next few years.

Or its other aspects of their policy that attract them. Pro Roads, Pro LRT. Also they like to mask as fiscal conservatives which plays well in suburban calgary. From a voter voting in self interest in the outskirt wards voting for the best transportation plan makes sense.

So, if my math is correct...
Mar was defeated by Woolley, but that's a wash in terms of the density vs. sprawl issue. Chu defeated MacLeod, which is a victory for the developers. All other incumbents were re-elected. The builder-endorsed candidates won both vacant seats in Wards 1 and 2.
So for my fellow latte-sipping urban elitists, this is an overall defeat, right?
