Ask yourself, is this REALLY what you want this thread to be about? Can't we get back to how Orr is better than Gretzky?

The above are people who utterly dominated their field of sport for many years.

Does Wayne Gretzky deserve to be included with the above elite stars? Yes he does.

Does Sidney Crosby deserve to be included? Right now, no he doesn't.

/nuff said. Done.
Gretzky deserves to be there because he's the best of ALL TIME. No one is saying Crosby should be up there, but he should be up on a list that has the current best players in each sport.

No one is saying Crosby is the best player of all time. Let it go

I'm not trying to be condescending to you.... I just don't think you know what you're talking about.... which is probably a result of the fact that you've never seen Gretzky play.

As far as what this thread is about... I thought it was about how Crosby is just as good as Gretzky... not Orr.

Agreed.... other than the fact that some on here do believe that Crosby should be on the list.... I won't mention names.

Hahaha yeah, that's your problem right there man, that is NOT what this thread is about, nor have I eeeeeeever said that. Not one of my posts suggested Crosby was as good as Gretzky, and here you trying to argue with me against that very point.

Seriously, like docta said, let it go. You're lost as hell.

Time to step away from this thread dude.

I think it boils down to this. Crosby is the greatest player playing right now. He arguably will be until he retires, which, as long as injuries don't eventually derail his career, should be a long long time from now. There are things he does that aren't quite as good as other players, but every element of his game would be ranked amongst the top ten in the league. That's more than Gretzky could say. Gretzky could put up points like a machine, but Crosby does everything. He's not better than Gretzky, but he's a more complete player, and he's the most complete player at the highest skill level this league has ever seen.

Last season he put up 56 points in 36 games, that's 1.56 PPG, which, prorated over 82 games, would've been 128 points.

This season he has already put up 17 points in 8 games, 2.13 PPG, which if he keeps pace would be good for 175 points.

Will he keep it up? Maybe not. But he is the ONLY player in the league that without threat of injury, has the immeasurable talent and consistency to put up numbers like that.

.... blah, blah, blah...

Crosby? He's the best player. When he's around, plays develop. The guy plays with average linemates and still puts up incredible numbers. He is most certainly the Gretzky of this generation. Is he Gretzky? No. But he's the closest thing we've got. He's the best player of this generation by far and he's the face of hockey in general. That counts enough for me.
I know exactly what you're saying. Basically you're saying that Crosby may not quite be as good as Gretzky, right now, but he's pretty damn close.

We shall agree to disagree.

And by the way... stop throwing out the insults to everyone who disagrees with you (in this and other threads). Is not a very admirable trait.

All this thread is proving is that neither Rerun nor strombad are the Gretzky of Calgarypuck.

Came back to see strombad be a condescending ass claiming things that simply are untrue AND still hold onto a myth that he wishes was somewhat true but isn't.

Leaving more than EXTRA satisfied.

Capitalizing random words IS fun.

No, that's what you want me to be saying. What I'm saying is he is the closest thing we have to a player like that. I also said he was a more complete player, only because he's more defensively responsible, but offensively, never said a thing.

You're trying to disagree with something that I'm not even saying, get over it already.

If you are insulted by something I said, I'd love for you to point it out and I'll be happy to apologise. Don't need to do it here, as you're just wasting time, but let me know via message if you have an actual issue and I'll apologise, or I'll assume you're being condescending and argumentative, which, coming from the guy who suggested I had a mental disorder, I assume is the case.

Crosby could have had 3 or 4 points tonight. He was dominant against the Avs. Giguere played unreal!

Agreed on golf. Would love to see you drive a 700 hp go kart around a race track at those speeds and with that precision regardless of weather for hours in a row and then say F1 isnt a sport.

I bet your arms would be sore after a couple laps at kart world.

If I had sex for hours in a row there'd be parts of me that would be pretty damn sore too but that doesn't make sex a sport either!

Good points on auto racing, but the same can be said of golf. How many of us here can hit a golf ball 300 yards +, straight and then hit delicate shots to within inches of the pin, consistently?
