Anyone signed up for Aviate? I'm trying to get an invite code from anyone who has signed up already for the beta. If you have a code to give out, PM please. Thanks!

PM sent, anybody else who might be interested in trying out the new beta let me know.
So far, I personally like it. I always was never a fan of the generic launchers with a dock on a phone and have tried numerous different launchers like Themer, Chameleon, Smart Launcher, etc. etc.
It's quite scary how accurate it is when it comes to knowing where you are.
As in, labelled which exact building I was in while at the University, without wifi on. Contextual changes are solid, and having a limited area for widgets is moreso to my tastes.
Edit: No more invites left.

They've fixed a bunch of the issues I've had with Aviate, but customization still isn't as intuitive as it could be. It's promising though and could be my launcher of choice.

Aviate is an interesting concept but they have a long way to go until it truly feels very useful. That is my opinion so far after playing around with it a bit anyways. I personally like the everything home launcher quite a bit as far as these types of launchers go. If anyone wants to check it out here is the link:

Obviously preaching to the choir but for those who aren't aware, Swiftkey has a new beta update and it's pretty significant.
Combining both the phone and tablet version into a single APK. 3 modes to switch between to allow for even more customization based on you and your device.
As I don't have a tablet anymore, the biggest addition I've found is the ability to change between 5 (not 3 anymore) sizes of keyboards with from the keyboard itself. Was always jealous of Kii because they had a 'demo mode' that allowed you to test your settings without exiting the settings.
The number pad is also now on the right side. Shockingly, it makes a lot more sense and makes you wonder why it wasn't there in the first place.

If you are a crack flasher like me or run CM nightlies where they do not have a power menu button the app Power Menu is great. Need root though.
Not an app per say but the active display available in some ROMs is pretty cool. It is taken from the new notifications or the Moto X where a small display pops up on your screen when you get a notification. You can just hold your finger on it to get a preview of the message or have options on the swipe. Works well.

Also been using the active notification - like feature. Much better than a notification light as you can actually get information at a glance.

Yeah, I tried Aviate for a day or so but just didn't find it that useful. I flash the latest nightlies with CM and really like the default launcher. Just find it easy to setup and get to what I need. I found Aviate a little too constricting IMO.

Not sure I understand why you need this though. With the latest CM nightly, I simply hold my power button and choose the Reboot option. There I can choose to Reboot, Reboot to Recovery or Reboot to Download. It's built right in.

It's to not wear out the manual power button is all. A lot of ROMs will have a power or reboot tole but CM does not. It simply saves on the number of physical button pushes.

They do fail. My nexus has a wonky one, if I don't have to push it then the wonkiness doesn't affect me.

I realize you're going for yet another joke at BB's expense, so clap, clap, clap...
I still have several friends who use BB's and really, find BBM a great way to communicate. The application seems to be working quite well.

I know I am living in the past, but what is the purpose of these third-party messaging apps over just using SMS?

Not everyone has unlimited texting, for starters.
