Yeah, count me in the 'not totally happy with Farrell but more concerned with not getting Taylor'. A vote for Druh it is.

Maybe this is just me being picky, or I'm way off base, so I'll ask here. The premier tweets out a "thanks for putting your name forward and standing for the community" kind of message and at least one candidate tweets back a "thank you very much" message. Tacky/self absorbed or no big deal?

I guess I consider those kinds of tweets somewhat rhetorical. I can't imagine replying to one!

I am incredibly torn on Woolley and Mar. One one hand, Woolley is against sprawl and wants to put more dollars back in inner city communities (which I support this election). On the other hand, Mar is a champion for public safety and I feel he's done a good job. The inner city needs to be just as safe as it could be beautiful (which Evan seems to focus on and should not be his highest priority which I feel it is).

Is there any candidate willing to have a free beer and wings night on a weekly basis? That would sway my vote

Well maybe if all of the 'not totally happy with Farrell but more concerned with not getting Taylor' people voted for Alexander or Nodwell the candidate you want to win might actually win?

Normally I'd agree, but the last election was only 1250 or so vote difference between Taylor + Farrell...

I remember talking to Jon Lord many years ago at one of those celebrity pizza taste offs. Talked for a good hour over beers, really nice guy, but man did he have it in for the police. Talked at length about all these perks they get and how handsomely paid they were. I can't imagine the police union backing him. Really not consistent with the more right wing slant he's going with.
Lots of right wing types really hate the police, unless the police are aggressively keeping down minorities.

The Sun is such a rag that its unscientific/unrealistic/unbelievable poll of "average Calgarians" showed up in Sunday's paper said that 70% of Calgarians plan on voting against 30% who don't. Seeing as though the actually results figure to be inverted (at best), it just shows you what an ass-backwards publication it is.

I know most folks don't really care for Dru, but she is honestly one of the best councillors for Calgary as a whole. She might have some crazy ideas from time to time, but she loves her ward like nothing else and does some very good things outside of the council chambers.

What was the methodology of the poll?

If this was a voluntary/online type of poll, then the results may make sense since those who are more hawkish, i.e. those that are more likely to vote, are more likely to respond to the poll. Of course these types of polls are not scientific because to get a true sense, pollsters must poll a random sample that reflects the population as closely as possible (which they have a number of scientific ways to do).

Nothing's further from reality than the characteristics you've listed. She is incompetent, self-aggrandizing, snobby, elitist and narrow-minded person that has zero respect for economic and business realities (unless they help her get the motion through). She constantly derails public hearings by attacking administration members on policy issues (that have nothing to do with them). She lobbies hard to get her motions approved and does it successfully (unfortunately). She is not good for Calgary.

hahaha it is.

I went to McDonalds drive through for breakfast today and they were giving out free copies.

Got to my voting station at 930am not knowing voting didn't start until 10, so i took my dog out for a walk. She took a crap so i picked it up with her pink doggy doodoo bag which i buy from Dollarama for $2 for 75 bags. Roughly 2.8 cents per bag.

Well we walked a bit longer and she took a second crap. I only brought one bag with me. So i ran back to car and grabbed the Sun and picked up her 2nd crap with it. The Sun was free and i still have 95% left of it.

So practical!

James Maxim came by my house the other day and seemed to understand the issues within my community very well. Did not see Pincott, but that does not mean he did not stop by at some point.

Any ward 11 Guys have any insight on Maxim (good or bad) ... I am on the fence right now.

While I tend to agree with your assesment of her worth to the city as a whole. I think that in a lot of ways she's representing the views of a lot of people in her ward though. In a way that's deomocracy and I can at least respect that even if I disagree.

This site might provide some insight:

http://calgarypolitics.com/category/councillor-ward-11/

It helped me with my ward 2 candidates. Good luck!

I hear you but I don't believe she is though. She mostly represents the views of the vocal crowd living in Sunnyside-Hillhurst, that's it.

I lived in her Ward for years. I thought she listed quite well to the people all neighbourhoods. When people think of Ward 7, everyone just happens to think of Kensington and Sunnyside because that's where every passes through to get downtown and is a general focal point.

Have you personally polled neighbourhoods outside of Hillhurst/Sunnyside and asked what they thought? How do you know she doesn't represent them?

I like Maxim's stance on aggressive LRT expansion - Pincott seems to be more concerned with BRT expansion which is a short term solution in my opinion. I believe Maxim has suggested borrowing against the $52 million in tax relief over the next several years in order to finance LRT construction, which I think is smart considering how low interest rates are at the moment.
