You have clearly never watched the one called Chris Butler play the game of ice hockey before.

Much of the Shark's win can be attributed to the penalty box parade. Good chance they would've won even with half the PPs (would've been closer) but it's still true.

Even strength I did see some strong Flames play, definitely not dominating, but matching the Sharks at points for sure. Made some excellent passes and displayed wicked transitional speed.

He's not as bad as people say, he wasn't the worst Dman tonight, that's for sure.

After coming back and having a pp only down by 1, then to lose by 3, that's tough on a young team.
Wow. For real? This was a seriously good team the Flames went up against tonight. I hope you realize this team didn't have a chance in hell going into this game and actually managed to make it close through a combination of talent and sheer hard work. I'm seriously impressed with this team so far. The "hard work will pay off" mantra appears to be working.

Gulp...BAcklund.

How about the average career games played per player?

You know what he was talking about and that there is a huge difference between each team regarding experience, no need to be a troll.

Edit: To verify my point, from the dressed players last night, the Flames total regular season NHL games played is 4,999, the Sharks is 7,536

Brent Burns is a player we could use... Such a beast in front of the net.

Our D got outmuscled in the corners & in front of the net. Never going to win games with that happening.

Positives? I love Sean Monahan.

From what I saw, I thought it was a great game. The players we want to see play well are playing well. Monahan and Sven are showing great chemistry, Backlund is starting to play better, and Hudler seems to be the only real vet on the team with skill.

As long as you weren't expecting this team to be an elite team, that should have been a good game to watch with little frustration

I like the push back. Like Elliot mentioned, this team could have packed it in after the second but instead came out and outplayed the sharks in the first 5 minutes of the third. Even Joe Thornton seemed impressed at the speed and fight in the flames. Imo that had a lot to do with the the flames good start, teams now have seen the style and know what to expect. These definitely are not the same flames teams of the past few seasons and it might be hard maintaining this over the course of 82 games, but this team is not the worst team in the league. The more games that are played, the further I am convinced that barring a big win with the draft lotto this team will not have a shot at the first overall pick.

This was probably already mentioned but Colburne looked like a giant moose in that scrum with Burns and co. Burns tried to jump up and headlock Colburne and it looked like he was trying to collar a pissed off draft horse. I would love to see Colburne "find himself" in Calgary!

100% agree with that. Colborne hasn't been given a fair shake yet. He's been stuck with scrubs and the limited time he's played with some actual tallent, he's shown a glimpse of what he could be. I'd rather see Colborne get the important minutes of Glencross.

BUT Hartley is the kind of guy who still goes with vets. The way Glencross has played, he should be getting 4th line minutes but we all know that won't happen.

I'm still trying to figure out how Jackman got another shift after that stupid 5 minute penalty last game. Then he goes out and does something stupid again this game. Please just take his jersey away and send him on his way. I don't care where...just off this team. He serves NO purpose.

Now on the other side of the coin, I simply cannot believe how good Backlund is becoming. I love Monahan as much as the next guy, but Backlund is really showing some flash and smarts out there. Flames just might have two pretty solid centers going forward here. Nice.

Fully agree! We did give way to much PP time to SJ.... Regardless of being in a rebuild or having the likes of Stajan Jones and Cammy out

Bingo!

That's the biggest thing for me. The guys that you want to do well are doing well. I found the game fun to watch for the most part. At no point did I think the Flames were out of it and that's a massive change from previous years.

Again, this is the type of game I have no problem seeing them lose. I'm on board for the rebuild. Patience is key and it's games like these that make fan patience easier to deal with.

He was the most to blame for the first goal. He was easily bumped of the puck in his own zone leading to an easy goal for the Sharks.

Russell wasn't terrible, but I rather have a bigger guy in the D group with less skill than a smurf with skill.

That goal is more Wideman's fault than Russell. You cannot abandon the front of the net in the d zone, especially when your team is on the PK.
