Yea I was really hoping that this team moved beyond the drop pass and the no look trust there's someone there passes.
In fact I think for the most part they're problem tonight was that when they did have the offensive zone they spent too much time passing vs shooting.

Wish someone could make a gif's of Glencross giving the puck away... They are almost as bad and obvious as the canuck dives.

Team works so hard and never quits which is great to see. Going to have play like that all year if we want to have a chance in most games, especially against the really skilled teams like San Jose.

Ramo was good, deserves to start the next game.

I agree. Ramo made every save that he should have and a few that would have been goals more often than not. It's only because of Ramo that San Jose didn't get double digits in this one.

The reffing in this game was garbage. So many soft penalties that shouldn't have been called, yet a lot of missed calls against San Jose (that slash on Monahan's skates stood out to me).

This game could have been a lot worse than it was. Good to see Monahan keeping up this level of play.

Was at the game tonight with a best friend cheering for the Sharks. Was that a group of CP (sitting in the Sharks attacking end in the 1st and 3rd period) over the goalie's left shoulder near the glass in the corner? I could see about 5-7 Flames jerseys in a row there.

We made mistakes, because we are young. But at least we don't pout about it and try hard.
.... Except for Glencross

Happy to see all the hard work. The flames lost to the best team in the NHL tonight but they didn't lay down for the loss. Although there were a lot of mistakes and a ridiculous amount of powerplays, the flames did not lose from a lack of effort. What more can we say about Monahan and baerrtschi? I think these guys are going to get better and better as the season goes on. By next season, I think they will be a boba fife #1 centre and winger in the NHL

Boba Fett's redneck cousin?

Seriously though, I agree. They're already on their way.

Yeeeeahp. I hate California.

I usually say this after cali trips out of frustration, but there should totally be a rule that if you can't have an ice rink in your backyard in the winter, then your city shouldn't have a hockey team.

Really good effort. These kids will one day lead us to the promised land..

Brodie had a brutal game but definitely still need to step back for a bit. This is his first season with this much responsibility and while he has had handled the first number of games admirably, he's still relatively young. Growing pains has obviously been the mantra for this team but I'm glad that there's been a lot of positive to talk about.

PP was weak tonight because of the lack of body movement. We've seen this team be exciting and dangerous with the man advantage but only because everybody was involved. No doubt, credit to the better Sharks team but when everybody is relying on only Wideman's shot and not their feet, we get nothing.

As for Backlund, he's a NHL player.

Really liking the forward group so far, with a few exceptions *coughGlencrosscough*. Nice combination of speed and size.

Defense needs desperately needs some size and grit. As a group, they seem too small and soft to effectively contain top NHL forwards.

Despite the five goals, I thought Ramo played well. No real chance on any of the goals. I think he's earned a start next game.

All in all, they hung in there against one of the league's best teams. Anything more would have been gravy.

Watched the game live with Sharks fans all around me, and even they were astonished by the refereeing tonight. They were flat out laughing in the 3rd period when we were getting even more calls despite being the smaller, pushed around team.

That being said, this was men against boys. The Sharks are just so much bigger than the Flames it's not even funny. Some were saying they were slow, but I didn't see that at all tonight. Bigger, Stronger, Faster=dominating win. The fact we were in it at all in the 3rd was an injustice to the play of the better team tonight.

As for my southern friend, he was astonished as to how fast the game moved that close to the ice, not only physically, but decision making-wise. He also did not understand most of the penalty calls against us and was astonished that they kept calling them. He had a blast and would go again if he could.

Ramo was awesome tonight.....and that's pretty much the list. I thought there were good shifts from Baertschi, Monahan, and Backlund here and there. I thought Brodie had another really terrible game. I thought that even though O'Brien and Butler were overmatched most of the night, they did a much more respectable job tonight.

Even though MacDonald has gotten us some wins, there's no question who should be our starter: Ramo.

Ramo played great in myopinion. Despite giving up 5 goals he was good. Three goals were deflections, which hit you or go in. Burns being left wide open 15 feet from the goal is going to usually end up in the net, and Marleau being left open off to the side for a cross crease pass either going in or he fans on the shot.

Usually we won't be playing teams with as many weapons that they have. He should be fine.

You have to think that the re-build has taken a bit of a turn now with Sean Monahan playing the way he is. 1 goal and 1 assist again tonight. Sven Baertschi as well, the team will be built around these two guys now.

Good game by Karri Ramo, made some critical saves and 3 of the Shark goals were tipped in. Pretty bad game though by the 2 veteran D-men Mark Giordano and Dennis Wideman. Brodie had a rough game too but I won't fault him to much on the 3rd goal. That was just a well timed tip in.

Sharks are a big team but why would coach Hartley play Wideman over 28 min and not give Butler a couple extra shifts. Dennis was getting thrown around a bit out there and Chris had a decent game, saved a goal there in the first.

Good to see Backlund get a goal, he needs to work on his positioning a bit though. Same with Huder, he had a goal but these guys need to play 60 minutes. Stempniak with another good game, he's the most dangerous Flame. Flames need more intensity from other guys. Glencross the invisible man again.

I agree the reffing was terrible tonight.

Flames need to chuck this one out as a dud and move on to the next game. I really see some moves coming here though.

It's definitely a good start to the road trip getting spanked by a top tier team like the Sharks. Feaster, Flames need those huge, speedy centermen!
You are wrong on almost every single point. have you watched hockey before?

Brent Burns as a healthy, productive power forward adds an element to that team that makes them pretty damn dangerous
