Why does everything with the Leafs have to be so over the top with you?
The Leafs hate is bad enough on here without a Leafs fan here overrating everything about the Leafs making the mainly false generalizations about Leafs fans/media overrating every Leaf player.
Statistically, yes he is. He has 94 points in 90 games the past 3 seasons. in 118 games since joining the Leafs, he has 112 points. The guy is one of the elite wingers in the NHL.
It's funny how people freak-out if you compliment a Leaf player.
And yes, the media hates the Leafs more than any Canadian team by far.
It's funny because the Canadian media has been going nuts over the great Bobby Ryan since going the Sens, and he hasn't been at Lupul's level the past 3 years.
At first yeah, hindsight being 20/20, saying he got a taste of his own medicine is poor form... but at the time it looked like a big hit and they were just stating the fact that Kronwall has made a living off of big hits just like that.
Once they noticed that he was really hurt they changed their tune, and even said he should have let up, but, going in that fast it's tough... they seemed generally concerned for Kronwall.
Everyone on here was making it sound like they were cheering him off the ice and if they could they would dance on the stretcher pointing at him going na na na na naa na.

This is flat out stupid. The sports media in this country is dominated by the same companies that own the Leafs. But the media hates the Leafs? More like Leaf fans are so flat out delusional that anyone that doesn't completely blow smoke up their butts is hating on them.

He was not invited to the Canadian Olympic team camp, has about 0 chance of making the team and has put up points in a limited time because he has had trouble staying healthy. Had he done that while playing a majority of the games he may be considered one of the "very best forwards" in the NHL but he can't so he is not considered one of the best. He is in the next level of good not great forwards, which is nothing to be ashamed of.
I am a big supporter of the Leafs on here and stand up for them and their players as much if not more than most posters. But saying that Lupul who isn't in the top 20, probably not 30, forwards in the league is not amongst the "very best" is far from "freaking out if you compliment a Leafs player." People disagreeing that Bernier was considered a Franchise goalie is not freaking out if you compliment a Leafs player.
The so-called Leafs bias is overstated by most people around the country but it is laughable to say the media hate the Leafs more than any other team. At best they are treated the same as other teams, most likely they get a bit more love because so many media members grew up as Leafs fans and a little bias might show through.
I follow sports and different media quite a bit and outside of people doing stories on Bobby Ryan's very interesting past I haven't heard anyone going nuts over him.
Again no issue with being a Leafs fan and complimenting them but having to have it be Lupul is amongst the very best and Bernier is a Franchise goalie and not just realistic comments is what gets tiring.

Kronwall has made a living off of big, cheap, dirty hits.
I guess you are not supposed to cheer when guys get hurt but seeing the dirty hits that Kronwall constantly throws I do understand why they went that route when initially seeing the hit.

Lupul's health is the only reason he's not more on Team Canada's radar. Same with Spezza. Both put up star numbers, but need to stay healthy more.
Not top 30? Come on. How many wingers are over PPG the last 3 years? And I'm overrating him? The Lupul you see now is the star Edmonton thought they were getting for Pronger years ago.
I bring up his stats, you obviously don't want to talk about that so you bring up a two week tournament that's not NHL related. His statistics and play say he's a star winger.
And most guys in Toronto grew up cheering for other teams in other cities in the country.
Bernier was considered a future superstar goalie by everyone before he came to Toronto. I say it now and it's shocking LOL.
And yes, Ottawa has gotten their asses kissed all year. And Bobby Ryan was going to lift them to greatness.

TSN/Sportsnet have owned the Leafs for a few months. I have not seen any difference. Same old jokes about how pathetic the Leafs are on every network.
Hell, Phil Kessel barely cracks the top 50 NHL players on TSN.

They've owned the Leafs for over a year now. I've never seen these jokes on TSN. And lord knows they've got enough time to do it since they devote half of the evening Sportscentre broadcast to them while the other Canadian teams might get a 30 second segment if they're playing that night.

Do you know how they determined those rankings? I'm guessing not because if you did you'd know that TSN wasn't ranking the players themselves but they polled people employed in the NHL for them. But I guess if you ignore the facts then you've got a good case for TSN hating the Leafs.

Well health is a big issue when considering if a guy is one of the very best forwards in the league. I would say his lack of defense is also a concern for a team that stacked.

Well I would say that 21 of the forwards invited to the Canadian Olympic camp are better than him (I excluded J. Staal, Lucic, Marchand, Sharp, Ladd and Kunitz although using PPG as the sole determining factor and short sample size I guess Kunitz should be ahead of him). Throw in guys like Kane, AO, Malkin, Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Kopitar from other countries and you are looking at him being 27th at best in my view for forwards. That excludes a lot of guys likely better than him in Hossa, Kessel, Sedin Sisters, Backstrom.
So yes he is looking like the player Edmonton thought they were getting but that still doesn't put him in the "very best forwards" in the game category.

I bring up the Olympic camp because it does a good job of showing who are elite or very best players in the game because it takes the best players to make a team like that.
I addressed the stats and will again say nice if he keeps that up over longer than a 16 game and 26 game period. Plus, stats alone do not decide if a player is amongst the "very best forwards" in the game.

Based on what are you saying that?
Most, if not all, guys from Toronto cheered for Toronto growing. Just like most guys from Calgary cheer for Calgary, Edmonton cheers for Edmonton etc.
If you seriously think that TO is the most hated team in the media then you are nuts. I know it is a horrible argument to just say that but there is 0 basis or reason for that belief and this is from a guy who has Toronto as his second favorite Canadian team by a long shot.

First, he was considered a potential superstar goalie and that and what you say there are a lot different from you claiming people thought he was a franchise goalie. Future and potential are the very key words you excluded last time you talked about this.

Would love to hear who said this and when. Doesn't have to be specific for dates but start of the season, after a few games, did TSN say it, MacKenize, Kypreos. Because I haven't heard anything close to this at all over the summer or to start the season.
Stop overrating the Olympic team. We're talking NHl here. I know you were surprised to hear Lupul's terrific stats the last 3 years. everything isn't about that 2 week Olympic tournament. Rob Zamuner is a former Olympian. Geeze. It's telling how all you want to talk about is the Olympics and not NHL hockey. 94 points in 90 games=equal great NHL winger.
And what I meant was, most guys in the Toronto media did not grow up in Toronto.
And you want to know who was kissing Ottawa's ass? Everyone. Everyone in the "Toronto Media" said they were major contenders in the East and said what a star Bobby Ryan is. You seriously are surprised to hear this? The media loves Ottawa.

TSN/HNIC/Sportsnet LOVES the money the Leafs make for them. Hence why they show them the most. This does NOT mean they are Leaf homers. The Leafs give them the most money. I;m surprised people don't get this.
TSN/Sportsnet have owned the Leafs for a few months. I have not seen any difference. Same old jokes about how pathetic the Leafs are on every network.

You need to relax with your over the top Leaf fandom, according to you, Kessel, Lupul, and Phaneuf are elite and very nearly the best on the game, and Bernier is a franchise goalie.... come on son.
Kessel barely cracked the TSN top 50.... as voted on by GM's around the league.... does that signal anything to you? Actual hockey professionals in the NHL don't view him in the top 30 forwards, and yet SOMEHOW both he and Lupul should be top 20.
Really, calm down. You can't just look at the points leaders at the end of the year and say "oh those are the best forwards". For instance, Kessel is probably in the same conversation, MAYBE, as guys like Bergeron. Bergeron doesn't put up near the same points, but he does many many other things better than Kessel does.
Bergeron > Kessel
Hell, if you go by points alone, PA Parenteau should be considered one of the absolutely best players in the league. After all, he's in the top 30 for scoring over the past couple seasons, so he's probably pretty amazing...
It's just silly to overrate those players that bad. Find somewhere in the middle, because you've got no credibility when your opinion flies in the face of any professional or rational opinion.

The very fact Bergreron gets voted the 9th best player in the world made me laugh. He's a second line centre on his own team. Yet he's the 9th best player in the entire world? LOL. He's not in Phil's league.
Phil Kessel is the 4th leading scorer in the entire NHL the past 2 years with TYLER FREAKING BOZAK as his centre, but he barely cracks the top 50? This is a freaking joke.
There's a big difference between 4th best scorer with Bozak and top 30 with Tavares...
I can't take anyone seriously who could say right now Kessel isn't a top 30 NHL forward. On another other team he's getting his butt kissed right now.
