I am not sure how much better Ramo would have been on any of the goals. Maybe the breakaway but it is Teemu freakin Selanne and the second goal he had to deal with a shot in the slot because Butler turned it over and SOB screened him.
I'm not thrilled with the goaltending but definitely not why we lost. We lost because of Butler.

Brodie made a big blunder that also hurt the team's chances of winning.

And you had to quote my post because? Brodie is a stud on most nights. Butler is always a dud.

I feel comfortable keeping MacDonald in the net. Except for the odd gaffe, the team is playing fairly well in front of him. I'd worry that changing the goalie may upset the present chemistry of the team.

There's more to a game than just a play or two. Butler for sure gets the goat horns on the second goal. But Stempniak lost his man on the first and Brodie had a bad giveaway on the third. I bet if we watched all the Ducks goals again we'd probably see some other Flames errors, albeit less glaring, that helped result in the goals against as well. SOB screen, as you said, comes to mind.
Hard to pin any loss on a single person.

Regulation loss for J-Mac means Ramo finally will get a start again.
Next game is vs the Sharks... poor Ramo

I believe in Ramo! Despite the fact that it's SJ.
He was excellent positionally in facing a lot of shots from a high offense Washington team. Swallowed up the puck very well with few rebounds. If he can do the same here, I think they'll have a chance. (Seeing as the only times he struggled were on the PK and it has also vastly improved since then). Keep your head up kids, and just keep plugging away.
The Sharks are bound to trip sooner or later. Maybe we'll catch their forwards floating for a night, thinking they'll have it in the bank before they even hit the ice.
Judging by how they managed to tilt the ice on an Anaheim team at home, I think 2-2-1 is very achievable for this trip. If we can just put in a full 60 with VERY limited Butler ice time (Or just sub in Smith), we might just be able to pull off an upset and give the team a huge boost of confidence heading into LA.

I do not like J-Mac. His all too frequent rebounds seem almost passes to the slot. That aside you are right the team does seem to play well in front of him. I conjecture that he may be one of the goalies that communicates well with his team.

I effing LOVE hockey. Watched the game with my Dad tonight, and we both agreed that this was one of Sven's most complete performances of his career. Seems like he took Uncle Burkie's words to heart. JMac played well enough, but he needs to work on his awareness of where the puck is. He got lucky on that non-goal. Mono had some growing pains based on having to fight through being actively game-planned by Boudreau, but that is only natural. Kid is a stud.
Best two Flames tonight were Street and Colburne. I noticed them seemingly everywhere making solid solid plays and skating with some serious jam.
Like the TSN guys said, the losing team is walking away from this one with many more positives than the winners.
Also, I heart Bob Hartley.

That's pretty classy and some refreshing honesty coming from the TSN guys.

Jackman needs to be done with the Flames. What a completely selfish and stupid penalty by him in the first. There was no reason for that. He wasn't defending a teammate and he wasn't "settling down" a chippy player. Just pure stupidity on his part.

I'm not disagreeing with you, but I do wonder who often this happens in games and goes undetected? Because if that isn't the case then it is just too stupid to fathom.

Can we sign Manny Malholtra and just have him take all our faceoffs?

I also don't understand the Mac hate. He's pretty solid in most games and generally does a good job. Doesn't deserve the bad rap that he gets on here.
Good game overall with lots of positives despite the score and daft mistakes. Baertschi stood out for me. Colborne, Russell, Bouma and (of course) Huuuuuuudler all gad good games
I like watching these guys play

Anaheim capitalized on 2 Flames turnovers by Chris Butler & T.J. Brodie. But Anaheim is a good team, any other team and one of those won’t have been a goal. I thought the Flames actually played pretty good. Good game by the veterans.
You have to think that this is going to be it for Tim Jackman after that penalty and game misconduct. The other guy that needs to be traded as well is Mikael Backlund. I’ll be surpised if he’s still a Flame by the end of the year. He’s a player that needs to be putting up points. You can’t rely on Baetrschi and Monohan every night.
Curtis Glencross and Ben Street both -3 . Glenny needs to go as well, time for a change for him.
Good effort by the Flames though, MacDonald made some good saves. Good games by Hudler, Wideman, Russel, to name a few and Stemptniak as well.
Russel with more ice time than Brodie tonight.
Monahan with a better face off % than Glencross and Backland.
Good game though. I have to give Jay Feaster some credit too, good mixture of veterans and younger players. Couple more little tweaks and this team will be pretty good.
