He's struggling a bit. It's like he wants to replicate the two games he played for the Heat last year by being a fiesty, gritty d-man that helps lead the rush, but he's looking a bit sloppy doing it this time around.
He's just kind of a wild man out there right now. I'm sure it'll just take a few weeks to really get into it for him.

Check out this week's Heat Report: http://flames.nhl.com/club/news.htm?...=DL|CGY|FUTURE
It's got comments from Knight, Hanowski, Ward and Elson.

Nice performance from these guys! 12 points (5G, 7A) in four games, on a combined 17 shots. All three players clicking at a PPG pace.
Is Knight playing Center for this line for the majority of the shifts, or is Jooris getting some shifts at Center as well?

I sure hope Knight is playing Center.

Yeah, Knight is playing centre. Unfortunately the AHL doesn't keep track of faceoffs like the NHL does. But I can say he's been relatively average in the faceoff dot.

Do you think that move is to get Ortio starting minutes in Alaska? Tough move to decipher given neither Brossoit nor Ortio has started yet.

I hope that's the case. Seems odd to send him down without even playing him in a game so far this season. It sounded like he had a good training camp in the NHL so I was expecting him to get a couple starts but Ward seems to be sticking with Berra. The Heat play 3 games in 3 nights this weekend so maybe get him some playing time in the ECHL so he isn't rusty when they call on him later in the week. Ward does seem to stick with older goaltenders over younger ones though so who knows.

Interesting move. IIRC the Heat play 3 games in 3 nights this weekend. I figured Ortio would have got one of the games. I know Alaska starts the season this weekend with a 2 game set. Maybe not happy with what they were seeing in Ortio during practice?

I am new to this forum but have followed the Aces a bit more than probably i should. I read that Aces coach Rob Murray thinks the 2 goal tenders will flip back and forth from Alaska and Abbottsford. Makes sense since Berra will be a full time starter and you want Ortio and Brossoit to get valuable game time. Alaska tends to give the AHL players a lot of ice time.

The reason for the swap was because Ortio can get in games while Brossoit gets coaching from Sigalet. It'll be a regular thing. I don't think it's a bad thing to do with two young goaltenders either.

Also, Sieloff's injury is probably a little worse than "nicked up," as Ward previously stated. He won't be making the trip to OKC/TEX. He's in Calgary right now with the Flames' team doctors.

That's not good. He's got injury problems based on his game style. Makes me think he should be playing another year of junior before injuries become a regular thing for him.

Although i did not watch first 2 games, i thought he was the best D on Friday. I felt that he did not see as much ice time on Saturday but still was effective with every shift.

It's very likely that Granlund will play this Friday versus the OKC Barons. This morning at practice he was on a line with Hanowski and Knight. Not sure why Ward would break up the "All College" line, but Granlund looked good out there. So much skill.

Not sure whether Granlund's game can graduate to the NHL or not, but I think he'll tear up the A. At that speed, he is a very effective player.

I think Granlunds game can translate to the NHL, but he will likely never play center there, I could see him doing well for himself as a winger.

With all this talk of Butler's errors from last game, are they any players you think could be called up as a #6 or #7 defence PMM?
