This the location of the shots the Caps put on the Oilers. Basically all of them are high percentage chances. Blame the Goaltending? LOL.
I love this iteration of the oilers.

Justin Schultz is a black hole in the Dzone. The kid has not shown any progression to that part of his game. He's starting to look like a PP specialist Dman.
Kid needs to figure it out soon or he is gonna be stuck on the bottom pairing for the rest of his career.

Will be an interesting team to keep an eye on this season and at the deadline as there should be a fire sale for guys like Vanek, Miller, and more.

@DarrenHaynes_CP: In NHL inter-conference play, the East has won 10 of 38 games vs. West -- 30 percent of the wins have come against the East-wannabe #Oilers.

It's never been proven anywhere that a shot from a specific place on the ice is more dangerous than any other in the offensive zone, I believe.
But yeah, I agree, the Oilers let the Caps free wheel in the slot at will. They are pretty dismal in their zone. That's what happens when you give so much ice time to Ference and J Schultz and Belov.

Not sure if you have realized this yet, but the season is only 5 games old

Must see TV tomorrow night!
@EdmontonJack Edmonton has one win in its last 11 trips to Pittsburgh over a 20-year time frame. It came Jan. 10, 2006.

Yeah, their d put no pressure on the Cap's playmakers.
Other teams manager to shut the Caps down, so it's not like the passing is invincible. Edmonton is positionally and physically weak at defence and the goalie are just average.
Their current and former gm practices bad asset management. Perron is a nice add, but ignores the problems this team has.

It's pretty cool, allows you to filter out hits, goals, blocked shots etc.

Oilers team D right now is actually similar to the Flames in 2013. They don't allow a huge number of shots but tons of golden chances right from the slot.
That TSN graphic says it all. It makes their goalies save percentage look awful and although the goaltending has been bad, we saw even with Kiprusoff that when your D allows slot opportunities and slam-dunks it makes you look bad.
A complete unwillingness to play physical as well. It's like having six Chris Butlers out there.
Then you have the forwards blowing the zone early. As Flames fans we've seen all too much of this over the years.
It's fixable but as we discovered with the Flames core, leopards just don't change their spots most of the time. Most of the main culprits just signed $6 million extensions.

Truthfully, goaltending is a problem for the Oilers. It simply isn't the biggest one. Not when you have no defence and a collection of forwards who never had to bear the weight of responsibility before. Same individuals that the Oilers rewarded with letters.

as long as the Oilers keep playing defense like they are now, they will keep having goaltending problems

Crosby with another hat trick and Marc-Andre Fleury with a goal and two helps book it.

The best part about the Oilers sucking is that all the Oilers trolls on CP went back to hiding in the caves.
