Online Payment for Game Day Parking

Anyone know if the Flames have ever looked at offering the ability to prepay for parking at the Stampede grounds? It seems like the parking lines are moving increasingly slower with more people paying with card over cash. Seems like there would be huge time savings with the ability to prepay online and then scanner technology at the booths to verify payment.

I always park at one of the lots and walk 2 blocks. Sometimes it's a shorter walk than it would be going across the parking lot and you can get out 10x faster after the game.

RFID is super super cheap. Setting up an online account to pre-pay and an RFID scanner at each of the entrances would be really easy to implement. Hell, if they sold the RFID card for $5 (which would be profit, btw) I'm sure everyone who parks there regularly would happily pay.

I used to always go in from the south side of the dome, now I go over to the north side and park on the street, or one of the private lots there. Seems a lot faster.

I suppose on line would save a line up, but they then have to patrol the whole lot and scan every plate and then how do you sort out the scofflaws versus the ones that paid via cc or cash at the gate.

I've purchased tickets to games in other cities on Ticketmaster and I've seen parking passes for the events on there too.

Man, people complain about the $15 fee at Stampede Park. Can you imagine what it would go up to if Ticketmaster got involved?

Ah yeah I was thinking more along the lines of you pay online and print a confirmation of payment or are emailed one. This would then be scanned when you enter the parking lot (just like buying tickets online for a Flames game). Basically cuts back on the time it's taking parking attendants to process payments, which would probably get the parking lines moving quicker.

Pittsburgh seems to have it through private parking companies with a few price options: http://www.parkwhiz.com/consol-energy-center-parking/

Saw this from Buffalo. It's a couple years old but it's a tiered system and with a discount for season passes: http://sabres.nhl.com/v2/ext/pdf/201...id-Parking.pdf

It does look to be a system used by a few US NHL teams.
