1) ABB Reto Berra
2) ABB Roman Horak
3) MIL Magnus Hellberg
How did Berra look against Hellberg? Hellberg seemed to be in competition for an NHL job backup job this year. If Berra is close to that level, then we could see Berra knocking on Ramo's or MacDonald's door pretty quick.

I think Hellberg was a bit better in the 2 games but more because of the quality chances against him were more numerous.
All in all I would say they were on par

He did last year, but this year the only time I have been noticing any juggling is the shift after a PK or PP if someone from the line was just on the ice for the PK or PP, but I did notice Horak more on the right side tonight than Byron, so those 2 may be flip flopping wing to wing a bit on the same line.
How has Jooris looked like so far? Was impressed by him in the summer prospects camp and from what I read about him during training camp?
I would love for Nemisz to get a shot with the Flames if he keeps it up. He looked alright when he was called up at the end of the season a couple of years back. His numbers last two years don't flatter him though.
Jooris has been a lot of fun to watch. He's got a really intriguing combination of speed, offence, balls-to-the-wall...ness and he's a pebble in a boot too. Everyone should keep their eye on him this season because he could be a decent bottom-6 option for the Flames if his development goes well.

I've only noticed Horak on Max's right this season. Byron's been on his left for the most part.
Occasionally Horak will drift to the left to get a better shot off, but for the most part he's been RW.

In the two games I saw Berra and Hellberg were dead even in goaltending. As even as you can get.
Hellberg saved 54 of 58 shots and Berra saved 51 of 54 shots. Berra just covers the bottom of the net so so so well. To beat Berra, it seems like high glove side is the way to do it.
I say give Berra another month or two in the American league, but he's looking very good right now. He's got a 1.95 GAA and a 0.933 SV%. Yeah, he's been good.

Off the top of my head, which is pretty accurate:
Byron-Reinhart-Horak
Jooris-Knight-Hanowski <- This has been the most dangerous line every game.
Bancks-Olson-Elson
Ferland-Nemisz-Eddy
As a side note, I'm a little concerned about having Reinhart and Horak on the same line. On the one hand, they have such awesome chemistry together. On the other hand, Reinhart ALWAYS looks for Horak to be the trigger man. Reinhart almost never shoots the puck. It's frustrating. In the highlights you can see those two on a two on one and Reinhart could've easily shot it, but instead passed to Horak.

4th line doesn't need to be limited to 5 mins a night.
imo few 2nd and 3rd line spots are already locked up with Backlund, Bouma, Galiardi, Stempniak, Glencross, Jones for next year. If these guys can surpass the names I mentioned that'll be great news. Not to mention, there will be more youngsters coming through next year with higher ceiling in Poirer, Gaudreau, next years top pick etc.
Not to mention, this is their first pro year for all 3, if in a year all 3 are playing 4th line in the NHL thats huge development, they can move up afterwards.

Doesn't help that Horak has not been able to really convert yet. Until he scored in the 3rd last night it seemed like he was responsible for ending every scoring opportunity that happened with him in the ice.

Thanks. From the sounds of things, I think MacDonald may be hard pressed for a contract next year unless he convinces management to bury Ramo or risk Berra on waivers next year.
Love the way Berra plays though. Goalies are getting bigger and Berra sounds like Karlsson, but improved in all the fundamentals that Karlsson lacked to be a real effective goaltender.
