It is entirely possible in the sense that anything is possible but virtually 100% not true at all that they would wish they kept Bernier unless they all turned into idiots over night.

Lombardi claimed in an interview the Leafs were the only team really interested in Bernier. Kudos to Nonis for getting him even when many said it wasn't necessary.

In all honesty we could do a lot worse than having James Reimer in net. The guy has been a legit starter for 3 years and is only 25. With Bernier's arrival and dominance I think Reimer's value is at an all-time low (for an NHL starting goalie).

Will Burke raid his former team for 2 assets that are being underused (Reimer & Gardiner)?

Reimer's a good goalie, good mental makeup. I'd go after him if he's cheap. Fits the age group.

He's 25 and had 3 very excellent season. If he can be had for reasonable he is the best option the Flames have ATM.

Good mental makeup? The guy collapsed like a wet paper towel in Game 7 against the Bruins. If Kipper had agreed to go to Toronto and he was in goal or that game the Leafs easily win.

The whole Leafs team collapsed not just him. He's been good otherwise.

The entire Toronto team collapsed against the Bruins. When you get battle-hardened champions like Boston vs people that haven't been in the post-season since 2003, that's what happens.

That whole team collapsed, most notably their captain & his defensive partners. They were outshot 16-3 in the 3rd period & the defence got steamrolled by Lucic & co. I admit I really enjoyed watching it happen but there is NO way Reimer was to blame.

Only if those assets are acquired for something we don't want or need. Liles, Reimer and Gardiner for Cammalleri, Butler and MacDonald, we eat half of Cammalleri's contract. $6.55M from Toronto, $5.625M back to them, giving them $3.7M in cap space to play with.

The team collapsed infront of him. You're making it sound like it was all on Reimer. I doubt a past-his-prime Kipprusoff could have stopped the bleeding under the same circumstances.

The biggest blame should go on Carlyle. He did not take a time-out. That's pretty shockingly stupid. His team was gassed.

I wouldn't mind picking up Reimer if the price is reasonable. A few disposable parts and a low pick, sure. Anything involving a top 60 pick or a player with higher upside than a bottom-pairing/tweener potential, no thanks. I don't mind rolling with stop-gaps until we know what we have in Gillies and Berra.

That is exactly the type of deal I hope the flames will make this year.
