Default Coming back to Calgary - Thursday!

I am once again coming from Toronto to watch my beloved Flames in person as part of my 40 year celebration and have convinced my big brother to join me (he is the one who made me a Flames fan when I was just a youngster).

We will be there for the Stars and Oiler games in November and I was hoping to make it extra special for my brother since this is his first ever pilgrimage. So would anyone have any ideas about what to do? I was going to check out the Flames site for arena tours, etc but figured I'd ask here since this is the gathering spot for the most knowledgeable fans. If anyone on here works for the Flames and can help me out I would sincerely appreciate that too.

Also, if I can't get tickets online, any season ticket holders looking to sell one or both of those game tix?

Please PM me if you can provide any assistance.

GO FLAMES GO! see you in November!

p.s. sorry if this is posted in the wrong forum.

You should be able to get some tickets in the exchange forum, the Stars game for sure.

As for what to do, I'd suggest getting really hammered at the game then riding a horse into the lobby of the Westin.

I'll donate a pair for the oilers game (pretty sure the stars game is already accounted for). PM me your email address and I'll transfer them to you. Center Ice, row 19, right by King Club for easy drinks access.

All I ask is you buy me a beer when I see you at the game.

Thanks. Check back with me next week on the Stars tickets, they might be available too. My set of seasons are for moderators and member contest giveaways on my forums, I'm pretty sure one of our mods has dibs on the Stars tickets but I have to double check.

Figured I've been on here lurking for a while now, should give back a little to the community.

Just extending some of our western hospitality. As for the last point, my ex-wife and I agree!

Check back when it's closer to the game dates. Like I said, I give out pretty much all my tickets on my forums, doesn't hurt to throw your name in there for the next ones.

Saw you accepted the tickets this morning. See you at the game robertsfanatic!

I can't thank you enough rage2! between me and my brother, both of whom are in their 40's, you'd think we were pre-teens going to see the latest boy band...
I will be there in my Flames jersey and will definitely stand when they score!

You have somewhere to stay yet?

I might be able to work out some silly rates at the Westin.

not yet, was looking at some hotels so suggestions for decent ones would be welcome...I knew asking the experts on here was a good idea!

I had emailed the Flames about arena tours and open practices but they are cancelled for 2013 and to let them know when we arrive for the practice schedule...
Has anyone here gone to the Flames practices? what's it like?

Went to a couple practices when Calgaryboy was visiting from Czech. I enjoyed listening to all the chatter.

Best part for me was getting to talk to Conroy for a long time. They let us into the lower bowl sitting right next to media and coaches. Not sure if that was normal, I think Calgaryboy had a special tour/viewing.

Not sure what kind of budget you're looking at, but Hotel Arts is decent priced in the downtown area, walking distance to the Saddledome, and tons of great bars around the area. It looks upscale, but it's not, I think it was a remodeled Best Western or something. Rooms start at 100 bucks for 2 queen beds, dirt cheap for what you get.
