They've also allowed more goals than any other team.

Especially as he outcoached his Flames counterpart so thoroughly in the Third Period over the weekend.

I used to worry that eventually the oilers were just going to be good out of default, from sucking so much that they get all these no brainer draft picks. I'm really happy that's not the case. Someone said they remind him of the 09-12 Flames, how about the 90's/00's Islanders?

And the really good news is that Jumbo Joe didn't score four goals in the Sharks win!
Otherwise he'd have been "pulling the Hertl".

I'd expect most coaches to outcoach Hartley.

It's four games. Two years ago Edmonton was leading the conference in November and they ended up drafting Yakupov.

Yeah, it's four game but are we really going to give the Oilers the benefit of the doubt here?
That team has earned all the jeers being thrown towards them.

Well that's the Oilers. Most teams don't possess the choke potential of the Oilers.
Except for maybe the Leafs.

Matt Pelech got his first NHL goal tonight for the Sharks. Not saying the Flames should have kept him but the Sharks converted him to forward and he's being used very well as a 4th line energy/grinder/tough guy role. He was set back a year or two in development by injuries but at 26 I can definitly see him carving out a decent career in that role. Similar to when the Flames then Toronto moved Belak to foward and he had a decent career from it.
Not a major note by any means but the kid always had a good attitude and happy he got his first.

Richards had 3 goals in 3 games heading into tonight. He's definitely overpaid but he looks better than last year when they made the playoffs. Seems a bit odd to jump on him when he's literally scored half the goals for the Rangers 4 games in. Still has to get bought out this summer but far from the biggest reason the Rangers have looked so terrible.
It's Lundqvist who looks absolute terrible. Maybe getting use to the new pads, but for a team that relies so heavily on their goaltender if he struggles like has been they have no chance.
Doesn't help that their playing a new style and look completely lost out there. Vigneault's going to find it hard when he actually has to coach a team and not just send out the Sedins.

I am glad that the Oilers aren't being applauded any longer for their miserable performances and selling 'hope' for the future. The future should have been coming out last season, and it didn't. There is absolutely no excuse for them to be horrible again this year, as it is year 4(?) of their official rebuild.
I really hated all the pundits picking them to make a lot of noise last year, giving that team accolades for being on the right path for being the worst team for so long. I don't think they purposefully tanked, but they did next to nothing in trying to be a better organization, and they fully deserve all the jeers they are getting now.
Calgary is in a rebuild, and they always say you shouldn't throw stones while living in a glass house. However, if Feaster and Co. ever run this organization into 2 straight years of being last, I would expect him to get fired, not extended and praised.
With that being said, I do think the Oilers will start to turn it around this year, but I don't think they make the playoffs yet. If I was a betting man, I would say the Flames will be the better team (again) within the next 3 years. They refuse to allow themselves to lose, and it has been showing on the ice every night. It probably won't last, and the Flames will more than likely end up being near the bottom of the standings, but that is a far cry from doing what the Oilers have been for the last few years.
