John Frickin Gaudreau!
Feaster said he wished he didn't bring Sven up early. I bet he won't do with Gaudreau either. Then again. JG seems to be on another level.

I don't know about that. To me, two points per game in the defence-oriented WHL is on another level.

They tried to sign and bring in Gaudreau last season. Pretty sure that'll be the plan again.

Johnny was seriously considering the move to the NHL last year. If he has a great year at bc college this year I would be very surprised if he didn't make the jump after his season ends. Not that my opinion means anything.

Gaudreau would've been our 4th top 6 LWer so it was the right decision for him to go back for a 3rd year.
Cammalleri will probably be gone for next season, which opens up some room.

Let's put that in context. Sven was a 2.0 PPG player, but he played an abbreviated season because of injuries and tournaments. Those 25 games he missed likely would have impacted that scoring streak. Sven was also very lucky to play on a pretty stacked Portland Winterhawks team that was the highest scoring in the WHL, playing along side Ty Rattie who had 121 points, good for 1.75 PPG. On a league wide comparison Brendan Shinnimin won the scoring title with 134 points , good for 1.94 PPG, but on a Tri-Cities team that scored 47 less goals. Mark Stone scored 123 points, good for 1.86 PPG, on a team that scored 55 less goals. Sven's season was damn impressive, but let's keep it in context. Also, those games lost to injury raise another question, that being Sven's durability.
The thing I always look at when I consider players is the impact they have on their respective teams. Is the guy a proven winner? Baertschi has had some great individual stats, but what has he won? Has he elevated his teams? Has winning followed him around? I like guys who have played on winners and have winning follow them around. It's kind of like when the puck follows a guy around. You love having those guys on your side. Hopefully he steps up this season and becomes one of those guys. Regardless of this season's outcome it appears we do have one of those guys at BC. If Sven steps it up, we'll have two and be in great position going forward.

I think Feaster motive was to dial down fans and media expectations of Sven this year. How he worded it...was a poor choice.

Agreed. It probably was a bit of Feaster dialing down expectations.

So ten of us are heading to Boston March 14th to 18th. We grabbed Bruins tickets for the afternoon game on the 15th.. I really really really want to see Johnny Hockey play while I am there.
Looks like Hockey East Quarterfinals are the 14th 15th 16th.. best of 3. I was hoping to see them the Saturday night, I am assuming BC will make the second round. Not a given, but they should. As they will most likely be a top team, they should also be the host team.
Does anyone know when tickets go on sale for those games?
Edit: got my own question answered, they go on sale as soon as BC clinches home ice as the top 5 teams get a first round by. Pretty much gaurentees we are going to get to see Johny Hockey play, very excited for this.

If you're going to break down his contributions, you should be including his play-offs. He led the WHL playoffs in scoring 14-20-34 in his last year where they lost a 7 game series in which the goalie on the other team was the MVP (Brossoit). He was 5th in playoff scoring as a rookie the previous year playing on the 2nd line 10-17-27.
I agree that winning is something to look for (and Gaudreau is one of the most exciting examples of a guy who wins Championships consistently), but losing in the finals while being a top scorer is different than losing in the first round and being invisible. I might be reading more criticism into your post than you intended, but it isn't like Sven has proven to be some wilting flower when the games got tough.

Boston College loses 3-1. Gaudreau with an assist on BC's only goal.
I could be wrong but BC's roster does not look nearly as good as the past two years.

lost two of their top three forwards (Mullane, Whitney) and their starting goaltender (Milner). So yeah, that's not easy to compensate. Brought in some good young players though - defensemen McCoshen and Santini were both 2nd round picks this year and from last year's draft they get forwards Calnan (3rd rounder) and Gilmour (4th rounder). I'm sure they'll be fine. Goaltending will be interesting ... Thatcher Demko is an interesting prospect, but he only turns 18 in December, so he might need some time. Brian Billett got the first start, he was Milner's backup over the last two years (10 games in total).

Every player in red is drawn to him but can't touch him, at the last second he dishes it off, pretty easily, to the open guy for an easy tap in.
Off the charts skill level this kid has.

Here are the other GIFs to the BC win including gaudreau and arnolds goals:

apparently gaudreau had some breakaway chances that game he couldn't capitalize on as well.
