Is it bad that I'm not excited about the Flames or Monahan at all?

Not bad - but odd that if that's the case you would be posting on a Flames fan board and then also posting to let everyone know you aren't excited.
Not bad. But really weird.

Especially since his handle is $ven27.

Bar-chee had a great game last night. Lot's to be excited about.

Not sure why fans aren't allowed to just be excited.
Believe me, I'm as pumped as the next guy, but I've just had my heart broken too many times for me to buy in too quickly.

Why would it be when the Flames aren't your favorite team.

I think years of following a team that has disappointed its fan base year after year can do that. Once they start being successful over a decent span you will probably feel the fire again. I don't think any other NHL fanbase has had it tougher than Flames fans. You could argue the Panthers but I am not sure they have any fans.

Isles. If not for years of crappy trades that saw them give up Spezza, Bertuzzi, Luongo, Chara, Jokinen, etc., they would probably be a pretty decent team.

At this point from what we've seen so far I'm thinking Sean Monahan will be staying with the Flames. How can you send him down when he brings so much energy, enthusiasm, excitement, goals. He's made the Flames better as well as players like Sven Baertschi.

I liked to see Hudler Sven and Monahan together. They are a very skillful line and fun to watch

NHL Public Relations ‏@PR_NHL
Sean Monahan has at least 1pt in each of his first 4 NHL games, longest pt streak to begin an NHL career by a Flame since S. Makarov (1989).

...and Makarov was already into his 30's when he started, too.

In a season of incredibly low expectations, I don't know how there can be heartbreak.

Enjoy every second that we're ahead of the Oilers and the Canucks.

Rub it in, and if the Flames finish behind them and those Canuck and Oiler fans go to rub it in, you can shrug your shoulders and simply say "We were supposed to finish behind you, whatever"

Think of this year as the ultimate get out of smack talk year.

This is my state, but I'm still loving what the Flames and Monahan are doing right now. I'm also really glad Sven is playing with him and not some plugs again.

For now I'm like a fish nibbling at the bait, not quite ready to bite and take a hook in the gills again.

I don't know how they can send him back to juniors

"But Captain his entry level contract, we'll lose a year" (I said that in a really snarky voice by the way. Kind of a high pitched Peter Griffin combined with someones mamma).

Screw the contract thoughts, if he's ready he's ready, and he looks like he's ready. You take that weight off of his shoulders of being sent to juniors and watch out.
