I still a deal featuring Yakupov to Phoenix for Yandle makes a whole lot of sense, especially with the Coyotes' logjam on defense.

Disagree, that move has been used more as of late, especially by young players, probably felt confident in it and it may have been his best chance of scoring.

This makes a lot of sense. For the Oilers. Not for the Coyotes.

Gotta love Thornton's reaction.
Puts the puck in the net again, looks at the ref like "did that kid just do that"?.

I'm very glad Sarich was traded too.
He may be a rock solid guy and a good veteran to have in the room but the hockey player was slower than molasses. You say it was a career limiting stint here in Calgary, I say it was one of the worst FA signings in the teams history.

The Devils very well may finish last and they have no 1st to look forward to. Imagine if that happened to us.

Too bad the Devils don't have Greg Sherman to bail them out of their managerial blunders.
Still don't know what Lou was thinking when he kept the 29th overall pick in a weak draft.

The only thing I can think of is the same mentality Calgary used when it chose to keep the earlier 1st rounder in the Jokinen trade. I think Sutter said something like - they'd rather get a player into the system and developing a year earlier than wait a year and have a player a year behind.

The NHL.com pun machine is in fine form today.
The main story on the Sharks game is tagged with "Hertl Power", and the links to the highlights of his goals are "Teenage", "Mutant", "Ninja", and "Hertl".

Yeah why would any player want to put on a show for the hometown fans who pay to be entertained? Showing up the other team would be a Yakupov style over the top celebration as that's out of the Rangers control but letting a 20 year old kid put some slick moves on their goaltender is something they can control but not on this night as they were simply bad. It's the NHL and if you bring your 'D' game you deserve to be shown up IMO.

Look at the current roster and some of the contracts. It's pretty clear that he's not the same GM he was a decade ago.

Really?
Keith Yandle isn't that great. He's on offensive D-man that gets the cherry offensive minutes and doesn't PK.
Wouldn't trade a first overall for him.

So does that mean the ideal situation for Calgary (if they tank) is finishing second last behind the Devils? Because that means Flames will pick first overall if either the Devils or Flames win the draft lottery.
