I assumed you meant 5 on 5, since that's usually where Glencross is wildly inconsistent.

I would not want to ship Glencross out for D and replace him with another rookie/AHLer. Just because the flames have been leading in a couple games is no reason to forget that it is going to be a very rough season and it will be useful to have a vet with decent skill and size who can play top 6. We already have Sven, Monahan, Colborne, Bouma, Street in the lineup. No reason to trade him because he made two bad plays so far this year, he is a good player and likes it here.
Also he took at least ~$1M discount for his no trade clause and the flames have gotten in trouble before disrespecting loyalty(Ference).
I would just wait and trade Cammalleri at the deadline.
Then again the defense has not been tested with an injury yet and isnt any deeper than the forwards...

In terms of value for Glencross, I'd want at least a 1st rounder and a good prospect.
Philly wishes they could dump Meszaros.

A 1st and a good prospect? lol no chance.

Feaster did claim last season that 25 teams called but didn't consider any of them. So its likely an overpayment is required to make the Flames even ask Glencross to waive.

Only reason Sven was brought up is because he was mentioned in the article. Philly has some nice young assets and we probably got to give one to get one

For the right price as far as I'm concerned anyone is available. If the owners/GM don't subscribe to that theory they are in the wrong business.

Trading Sven and getting back a guy like Brayden Schenn who is only 1 year older, has shown more in the NHL and has just as high, if not a higher, of an upside is not running him out of town.

How in the hell has Schenn showed more in the NHL? For the opportunity he has had he really has not shown much.

He has played over 100 games and scored 4x as many points as Baertschi. He has shown he can play a regular shift in the top 6 of an NHL team. Baertschi is just now showing it.
Seems pretty straight forward and virtually impossible to argue. One guy has 113 game, 54 points the other has 28 games and 14 points. Seems clear who has shown more at the NHL so far.

Sure if Sven keeps this up for more than 1/4 of a season then it becomes closer but at this point Sven has yet to play even a full 42 game lockout season and Schenn has played over 100 games. One is clearly established as an NHLer and one is trying to establish that this year.

Baertschi is just now showing it because you know, he was drafted two years after Schenn. Yes, Baertschi is only a year and change younger but he's two draft classes behind Schenn thus has two less years of development then him.

Awesome.
Did I say it was due to Schenn being super awesome and Baertschi being a bum? No, I mentioned in the post that Schenn was older and thought it is fairly self-evident that he has had longer to develop. I didn't use it as some sort of slight on Sven just to point out that at this point in their careers there isn't really anything that Sven has over Schenn and that if anything Schenn having more NHL experience is going to be a plus for him in the Flyers eyes.

I'm fine with keeping Baertschi and I understand we should expect homerism. But what type of question is that? We can start with Schenn proving himself to be an NHL player capable of playing a 2 way game and having a full season under his belt. The same can't be said for Baertschi. I'm not commentating on value or potential but there's only 1 clear answer to the question "Who has proven more in the NHL?"

what a dumb idea. The common consensus is the team has fianlly changed their ID. Now lets go F it up by making a trade of an A captain to boot. Not the right time to pull the trigger.

Baertschi for Schenn. Huh?
First of all, neither team is even remotely interested for obvious reasons, how do these discussions even get started? - Flyers don't need an unproven player. Calgary isn't giving up a player with high potential.
Schenn would be a good addition here. But only for vets if philly wants them (and likely Calgary takes some salary back) - like Glencross as I suggested above.
Schenn is way more accomplished then Baertschi for the reasons noted above. Ridiculous to suggest otherwise. And I think he was more than a point per game in the playoffs a couple years back.
Baertschi has talent, but he plays soft. He won't lead this team in the crux moments. And even when the Flames are a good team, there are plenty of crux moments.
Finally, a superstar in waiting does not typically shuffle back and forth from the AHL - or even come remotely close to that. Baertschi will not be superstar. Hakan Loob at best.

Sharp was a very good player in the NHL long before he played a few minutes a game with Kane and Toews. Glencross doesn't have anywhere near the discipline or defensive acumen to be a Patrick Sharp. There are players who are dialed in whenever they are on the ice. And there are players who are dialed in only when they have the puck on their stick. Sharp is one kind. Glencross is the other.

Sharp didn't break out until 2007, when he, Kane, and Toews came to Chicago. Philly gave up on him really
