He is inconsistent, yes. Sorry he's not Sidney Crosby, but not everyone can be.

He took a serious hometown discount for this team and has been on pace for well over 30 goals the last two seasons.

He may take the odd frustrating penalty, but he does far more good for this team than he does bad. He's a good hockey player.

This would be an absolutely terrible trade for Calgary.

In terms of value for Glencross, I'd want at least a 1st rounder and a good prospect.

Philly wishes they could dump Meszaros.

No thanks

Glencross has decent value.... if he is traded they need to grab a young player and a draft pick

My god I am glad the fans do not get to play GM. Meszaros can probably be had for a song and you want to give them Glencross?

Keep dreaming on that return. What's wrong with Meszaros? He has value too. Steady stay at home D which we lack right now.

Brilliant argument. That's exactly who I expect him to be.

Taking a home town discount doesn't excuse all faults. That was a business move, and he got a no-trade in return.

Glencross is a good player and he does score his goals. My contention was that he's no leader, and he's no "heart and soul guy", because his hear and his soul (and sometimes his brain) is missing half the games out there. Stephane Yelle was heart and soul. Andrew Ference was heart and soul. Regehr was heart and soul. Glencross cross is a nice accompanying piece...but anyone who relies on him to lead your team in the passion department will be disappointed.

He's a solid piece, but if we'd were able to get a solid young defenseman or a first round pick for him, and he'd agree, I'd be the first to accompany him and his horse to the airport.

He's younger than Iginla, put up better numbers last year, and is on a ridiculously good contract.

In what world isn't Glencross worth that?

If he can't return that, then I'm more than happy to keep him.

Meszaros is number 5 defenceman, paid like a number 2/3 defenceman, for significant term.

Believe me, if the Flyers could dump him, they would.

Why? 2 big body Western Canadian kids that are 22 and 23 respectively. Luke is a rhd that we lack. Brayden is a big body C or RW that is hard to play against. I get the love for Glennie and Sven but I think the value is there. If not the Schenns how about Couturier and Coburn?

I just feel he's too inconsistent to get a 1st and a prospect in return. Takes too many games off. Teams don't want that.

The bigger question is Glencross interested in Philly. He signed a budget contract with a NMC so he could stay in Calgary. Last season he was pretty clear he wasn't waiving his NMC.

Even if he is willing to move would it be to a team that is out of the playoffs and just fired their coach?

Giroux 3 games no points and -1.

Giroux just signed an 8 year 8.25 contract extension that kicks in next year so he is bullet proof.

There are many many examples of players getting these big contracts and their production falling off.

The super rich are hard to motivate.

Why don't we develop our own players?

Unless the trade is an obvious one sided win for Calgary, I have no idea why anyone would want to trade Baertschi. The Schenns have been complete disappointments thus far.

The biggest reason is that the Flames are in a position where they don't need to make this move whereas it would appear the Flyers are pushing for it. In this case, the Flames have the leverage and should make them over-pay. Why take a fair trade when you can bend the other GM over a barrel?

That has nothing to do with it, I am fairly certain if the deal was right, the fan base would be on board with moving Glencross. The issue as I see it is your thoughts on the matter are way out to left field.
