Congrats to Backlund he was the best Flame tonight and is becoming my favorite Flame.
Gotta say I'm quite impressed by Monahan's poise on his goal. For a player that has only played 2 games before, Im surpised he had to patience to catch Lack cheating and use the other player as bait

They'll be weighing the benefits of him playing in the NHL versus delaying the day he needs a new contract. Look at Edmonton, all their young "stars" getting huge contracts before even sniffing the playoffs. So much for replicating Chicago, who won a Cup with their young studs on cheap deals, allowing for them to pay for veteran talent...and a defense.

Neither as Jackman IMO should be lucky to suit up more than 15 games this season for the team and McGratton should only play when facing teams that ice a goon. It's on management to provide better talent for the 4th line.

Cundari, Smith, Breen, Sieloff, or Wotherspoon (when healthy).

Played the first 2 periods perfectly. 3rd period was a bit of a debacle but entertaining!

Joey Mac had a good game...maybe you guys are't seeing the quality of chances the flames are giving up out there.
Also, Ramo has played one game why would we get another goalie
1st year of a rebuild 4 of 6 points it really couldn't be going much better

Exactly, that's why I can't be ok with this loss like some people. It being against the Canucks certainly doesn't help either.

O'Brien and Butler are just atrocious. O'Brien just does nothing out there and Butler seems to have a knack for doing the wrong thing every time. Can't wait for Breen to get healthy, Smith needs to draw in for O'Brien next game (Or Butler, either works).
Seriously would rather have any of Breen, Smith, Cundari, Seiloff or Ramage instead of those two pylons.
Besides that rant I was very pleased and entertained with the team tonight, another fun game to watch. That's all I wanted this season.

The Flames may have four more points than Edmonton, but the Oilers have six more assistant captains!

Any of them offer an intangible Butler doesn't have. Cundari is a better puck mover, Smith & Wotherspoon are smarter and calmer, Breen offers punishment to the puck carrier and so does Sieloff.
Butler just doesn't need to be on this team, they benefit nothing from him being in the lineup. SOB was a wasteful signing as well.

Spector is such a turd. Before the season started he was fawning over the Oilers and only two games in he's already cracking jokes at their expense.

It's new territory for me, personally. My gifs for postgames tend to go the extremes for wins and losses. It's unusual to lose games like this in recent years.
Umm...?

I thought the young guys played pretty well. O'Brien is the same disaster I remember from when he was in Vancouver and some of the other veterans made some really boneheaded plays, but Monahan and Bärtschi both looked good given their (lack of) experience and Backlund looks like he's really coming into his own. He's turned into a pretty impressive 2-way center from what I've seen so far this year.
