Every genre has its fans and its hardcores who connect with it on a different level than other people, and to extents that others may not understand. I can completely respect that. With any form of art, one person may think "garbage" while the next person's first thought is "brilliant".
There are bands that I know practically no one cares for anymore whom I still can't get over or move past because I was so captured by their sound. Others may laugh and say "geez they were bad". But personally, what they had created struck me a completely different and profound way.
So yeah. I don't mean to bash anyone's favorite group in particular if it happens to fall under EDM. I think it's awesome that some of those artists can connect with their fans on that kind of level. But like I said before, it's not that it's not enjoyable to listen to. Sometimes I'd prefer it over anything else. Depends on the mood.
I'll maintain my stance on the issue, as that's just how I perceive it, but it's not to say that there aren't some brilliant minds working under that form of music.
Even 25 years after its release people still know Sweet Child o' Mine. In 10 years no one is going to remember any of the EDM of today because EDM is disposable music.
You could say that about any genre today. There is allot more music today to enjoy than 25 years ago. The digital download era has caused people to constantly want the next hit song and it's allot easier for artists to get their music out there today than in previous generations.
eg. 10 years ago daft punk released music that is still being enjoy today. Just because you enjoy one genre doesn't make it is better than another genre, that is just your opinion.

wow 10 years...genre aside the fact that everyone is just looking for the next hit and its so easy to put out songs is part of the problem. Nobody takes the time to actually create something meaningful. My god Psy was winning music awards last year for his novelty youtube sensation. Modern music for the most part sucks balls because everyone is lazy and just wants a quick buck.
And there is a reason all these "artists" sample (steal) older music

Heh, this has been said of every new genre since at least the 30's and jazz

Just as an example....BT's album ESCM was released in 1997 and is still talked about to this day in terms of how it defined dance music. Not bad for a 16 year old album.
