Day later and still don't mind it. Stand by what I said originally in that its not good but not terrible, it's average.

I personally like some wordmarks and baseball jerseys though so it would be a personal bias.

Only thing I don't really like is the squared off shoulder yokes, and those tend to look better on real jerseys then mock ups.

Lots of overdramatic posts in this thread though cough: flameswin :cough.

The way that they have combined the wordmark with the flaming C is reminiscent of the old Quad Cities logo where they crammed this abomination together. They don't look right right to me.

I'm currently in the process of obtaining every Calgary Flames jersey that they've ever worn in the NHL, and I feel sick knowing I'll have to buy this over-priced piece of ####.

I'll be waiting for the 90% sale on this one.

My thoughts go out to The Calgary Fire Dept and other civil institutions that did not make the shoulder patch cut.

whew.

On second pass through, I like it a little more. It's really the flaming C at the bottom that makes things a little odd, but otherwise I think it'll look better IRL. EA are notorious for having jerseys look a lot worse in-game than they do on-ice. I mean, FFS, they were still using the Flames current font on the retro jerseys up until this year, when the retro has been around for 4 years.

Honestly, don't judge it on these pictures, it gives you a good idea, but it'll definitely be BETTER (even if it remains bad) when the actual jersey is revealed.

Its a step down from the retros, but I don't think it's completely awful.

I just don't get why the fans have no say in this, at least when it comes to alternative jerseys. I mean - at the end of the day, it's the fans that will buy them and you would think that Reebok and the teams would be interested in selling as many jerseys as possible, so why not make sure that the fans really like them? Why not present three designs and let the fans vote? Don't teams do that when they are new and in need of a team name? Pretty sure that Calgary and Abbotsford ran a vote back then and "Heat" won.

That thing is not pretty. Makes me kind of sad when you see fantastic concepts like the one by Split98 back then, that was neat. But hey, it seems it's "horrible jerseys weeks" right now. Buffalo and Canada (Olympics) are equally horrible.

Can we just keep the shoulder patches, slap them on the retros, and eliminate everything else?

I propose a CP-wide banning of the new alternate. With such action, we may help drive sales of that abomination into the abyss and force the organization's side to abandon them.

As I mentioned in my previous post, the leaked jersey from the game is so similar to NJD home uniforms that I can't believe it's actually going to be the real one.

NJD home:

CGY alternate ?

Pants and socks are almost the same. This has got to be a joke.

You people are impossible to please.
1. It's red, not yellow or black.
2. The shoulder patches are new and not flags
3. The striping is simple and clean

You all complained about it and now you got it. Quit complaining. It's fine jersey for a 3rd.

Exactly. This is the part I truly don't understand either. A few guys are saying 'it's just a cash grab' or 'it's a 3rd, just for fun / money / toying around with / etc.'.

Well if it's for the money, guess who the fata buys them? The owners and their families don't buy 14,000 jerseys. Good lord, business 101, know your market / customers. And the best way to do that? Stuff like popping on this website, doing fan surveys, focus groups, looking around the league to see what sells best, doing market research.

And hell without even doing any research other than knowing generally what's in style, and what the fans like to see based on the other little thread (the majority from what I can tell), you'd pretty much have to be a moron to think these jerseys would be a hit.

So the conclusion I draw therefore, is that the ownership / team / management / whatever just wanted to do their own thing. Which is fine but what a waste of time / money. I''d bet heavily that these wouldn't sell as well as a new uniform (home / away), and doing some new kind of combo of retro colour scheme with new pattern / striping / whatever.

Even just going retro home / away, those would sell more. Anyway, just my 2 cents. As for all the people chirping about 'why do we care about "laundry" , it's because hockey jerseys have been something I've always been pretty interested in, and collected ever since I was a kid. So that's why.

disagree. I don't think people are impossible to please at all. Quite the opposite. You do a little research, check out what's in style, and then redesign the uniform to match that. If you read that other jersey thread, and you look at the comments in this thread, the majority of opinion is more or less straightforward IMO.

Because the Flames just do whatever they want, they end up with atrocities like this. And more importantly to the Flames, they'll end up selling less than they would have had they done the opposite.

The leaked 3rd is awful. Black Horsehead or HC was way way better than the Buffalo-like Flames jersey.

I've already voted to not liking them, (although I should have waited to see the actual thing versus the computer mock up), but the extreme reactions from some on here are ridiculous. They are far from "embarrassing" or "bush league" I'd just hoped for something different, and mostly because I don't like the idea of writing across a hockey jersey.
