Ya it would be cool if it just flashed the team colours, but when it alternates I think of teenagers trying to look cool in their crappy cars.
I can see Rogers Arena from my house and am going to a game in the next few weeks, I'll tell you guys how it looks live. At present the arena can't get much worse!
Personally I preferred the spinning red lights that were in the saddledome for the longest time.
As cool as the concept is, I think the lights are just distracting and lack flow. It just looks like a bunch of light sabers staked in every 8 feet.
Now, if you could make the entire boards into LED boards that would act like normal boards, but could do crazy effects during pre-game/after goal, I'd be all for that.
For pregame stuff very cool. I found tho that after a Canucks goal it reminded me of a teenage rave party. If they used Canucks colours maybe it'd be better
That's no an awful idea, but I'm not crazy about how it actually looks. Honestly though, any way to make the Dome glow a bit more red during pregame and goal celebrations would get the OK in my book.
I'd be fine with it pre-game as you could do some crazy pattern stuff with it, the possibilities are endless based on what the dude said in the first video. But keep it off during the game, IMO... or use it like the NBA does behind the backboard and have them come on red when time runs out to helps determine if a puck crossed the line in time, or whatever.

It looks fantastic in the dark. During the game as a goal celebration thing, it's a bit over the top. If they just lit up blue / green instead of flashing like a police car it'd be better. Good idea though, I have zero doubt that we see other rinks doing the same in the near future.

I thought it was pretty neat, but when it comes to special effects after a goal, I don't think anything beats the burst of fire at the Dome (that despite being half an arena away, warms you for a split second).
