Hertl scores his first. Not feeling the Jankowski pick anymore. Sucks that you have to wait forever to see him against NHL competition.

Oh look, Vancouver winds up with a power play out of that somehow. At least a Canuck got all the way through a fight without pulling anyone's hair.

What's the rush? Team has a log jam at center this year anyway so even if he was ready there wouldn't be room for him. He's a project. It remains to be seen if it was a bad pick or not.

2 goals for Hertl. That's what top 6 minutes with Thornton and more than 30 seconds a game on the powerplay will get you.

He's a natural for Vancouver - has pissing and moaning about every little thing down to an art.

Maybe we'll get a nice bonus out of Mike Gillis's inevitable whiny press conference and Torts will strangle Tony Gallagher on live TV.

Of course and I'm not talking about rushing him. I'm just being impatient with others from his class graduating.

Still, people talk like he's in some special category and can't be compared with others until sometime in the future. I don't know how I feel about that. He's an interesting case to follow for sure.

That's what an amazing preseason will get you. It's not like San Jose is handing out top line spots based on nothing.

Glenn Healy is the worst. The absolute worst. His schtick of trying to obscure the fact that he has zero clue what he's talking about whatsoever by being angry and blunt doesn't work nearly as well as he seems to think it does. My hockey-watching existence would be so much better if they'd just fire him and let Friedman talk for longer. When PJ Stock is providing greater insight than you it's time to head home. Just brutal.

So I'm pretty pissed. My fantasy hockey opponent had 11 points from 10 guys playing tonight. How the hell do I stop that? F%@*(% Leafs... I need a Niemi shutout and a couple of points from Eric Staal tomorrow to even have a hope here. FML.

He looked very mediocre at the prospect tourney.

When he came to camp, he got the opportunity to play with the big name players.

Reportedly had an amazing camp. I'll take your word for the prospect tourney, but that doesn't determine anything.

Are you really saying he didn't have to earn his opportunities?

All the people who want the Flames to tank should watch the Oilers play

A couple of years more and fans will start to get nervous about losing those top picks to free agency.

I'm saying that there was a spot for him in the team's top 6 before camp began. Management planned for it.

Seriously, the Oilers are basically a tire fire. The panel at intermission was ragging on Dubnyk but he faced 22 shots in one period and there were way more that could have found their way on net. How can you blame the goalie in that situation? No matter what the goals looked like, I'm sorry, your problems lie elsewhere. Lundqvist couldn't save this team.

Meanwhile watching the Sharks on the other stream and holy crap they are TERRIFYING. Their young defensemen are outstanding, Brent Burns looks frightening as a forward. They're my pick to win this division.

EDIT: Beautiful, beautiful goal by the Canucks PP.
