Yeah so......... Jim Furyk shoots a 59 at the BMW today....and that included a bogey on his round (first time thats ever happened)

Unbelievable.

And for fun, Furyk finished a full 18 shots ahead of Rory McIlroy's round (77).

Furyk also par'd his 17th hole, a par 5, so it could have been lower yet!

As interesting though is this: Tiger was assessed a 2 stroke penalty for moving an impediment that caused his ball to move. Had he replaced the ball, it would have been a one stroke penalty. There is video.

I think I'm with Tiger on this one. The ball didn't move forward or backward. it may have settled down a bit, but that causes me to stop and think, how the hell does he replace that ball and only incur a 1 stroke penalty?

That's got to be one of the better 59s out there too when you consider the other scores. A few of them lately seem to be when everyone is shooting 64s and 63s.

Tiger has had more than his fair share of calls that have gone his way. It's about time he gave a few back.

I have no problem with this whatsoever.

In 7 months or so, Calgary's Stephen Ames hits 50 and becomes eligible for the Champions Tour.
His stats this year have not been great http://www.pgatour.com/players/playe...ce-stats/#uber
His putting has been excellant, but his ball striking was inconsistant. Historically Ames has always been a fantastic ball striker. His driving distance is well down pga standards, and he is not hitting as many greens. I suspect the two are related.

On the champions tour though, his length would be just fine. Im really excited for him and think he can really go on a run out there.

What are the rules for qualifying? Does he automatically get entry due to his career money? Does he need a big start to next pga season ( which he may not have full status for)?

There is a qualifying process not unlike the regular tour, but there are exemptions as well.

Somewhat convoluted but i dont believe Ames qualifies for any of them...

maybe this one?
Top four players in their first two years of age eligibility with multiple PGA Tour wins.

Ames has 4 tour wins.

DeLeat/Day playing Ok after a rough start. Down three really, but back to 1 down.
US is playing unreal. Every par 3 to within 6 ft it seems. They're birdieing (?) everything

Bradley and Mickelson are such a good duo.

Too bad the rain has made a mess of this week. Maybe Ohio is a little too far north for october golf. The rain and elements are always part of the ryder and presidents cups, but this is crazy.

I can't take this tournament seriously when Nick Price chose his two buddies for the team and they are absolutely useless.

players like Jaidee, Ogilvy, Senden and Choi got passed.

If Deleat had not qualified he'd have not been picked either.

Jaidee is 59 in the world, Ogilvy is 97, Senden is 105, and Choi is 118.

His picks are 61 and 63 in the world...all the rest of the team qualified.

Not sure where the issue is there at all.

Honestly if there was no Canadian in the tournament, I would have a hard time even caring. The Americans are so much better than the International team.

Nice to DeLaet doing well

Experience matters too. Not just rankings.

Tim Clark is another matchplay gamer.

this happens everytime with the internationals... this us why they always lose.

Leischman ok.. no way De Jeong makes the team if he not Zimbabwean

what is Delaet's world ranking. He wouldnt have been chosen

The Presidents Cup is basically the equivalent of an international friendly in soccer. The US is obviously better but for many years they were always better than the Euro's at the Ryder Cup, but because the Euro's hated the Americans they always made it interesting. Most of the guys on the international team live in America most of the time anyways, making it hard to muster up that kind of emotion. The Presidents Cup is a nice exhibition but its not even close to the Ryder Cup. The Ryder Cup is must see TV every time its on.

Tim Clark is a reasonable argument...the rest arent though. How do you get experience if you dont get to play anyhow?

As for Delaet...he was a slam dunk to be chosen...right now he is 32 in the world IIRC.
