My first thought was "Are we really reduced to Brian "Fricken" McGrattan threads?"
But then my second thought was, "Yeah, why the hell not."
You forgot to add:
-Is apparently a penalty-drawing machine

He has been solid so far.
Looking forward to him dropping the gloves in the near future. If warranted against the Canucks.

The Big Ern's been earnin' it big!
Consistency is always huge, but he has been impressive in the last couple of games.

The penalty he drew against Washington last night by chipping the puck in and moving his feet was a thing of beauty. Big Ern can play hockey. Good on him.

He and Bouma make a formidable energy line. Speed and jam. It looks like they could handle more than 5 minutes a night if need be...

If he was an oiler, there would be a pressed today to announce him signing the standard oiler contract (6 years for $6 million per)

He has good abilities as a tough guy. Can play a regular shift. One of the top fighter in the league although his defense while fighting is not the greatest. He will be fine unless it's Orr or McIntyre he is fighting. Those guys can one punch you and you are out cold.

I think the biggest contribution he has is the effect on the confidence of young guys like Monahan and Baertschi. Having him there, as someone put it last season, makes them all a foot taller.
I'm so glad that Feaster brought him home for at least another 2 seasons.

I am not going to jump on the hyperbole train and call him the best 4th liner in the league or anything like that, but I will say that I really like MacGrattan as a player and a team-mate for the guys.
He brings more skill to his role than most people outside of Calgary probably think.
He is a good guy in the room and for the identity they are trying to build because he goes balls-out for his team-mates every shift.
And most importantly, IMO, he makes his team-mates 2 inches taller. They are getting bigger, but the Flames are still one of the smallest teams in the league. The last thing you want is to have other teams taking liberties with your kids. MacGrattan - even at 4 or 5 minutes a game - does a lot to ensure that doesn't happen.

BMac in the lineup and Jackman isn't. I'm good.
