Ottawa's looks like the logo for a mammogram clinic from 1994.

I believe it's meant to represent the swirling pit of despair everyone falls into when they live in Ottawa.

I actually like that Calgary's civic flag is so "seventies" and cartoonish. It has a "Yeah, that's my flag. Got a problem?" sort of vibe to it.
And apparently it first came to be in 1983, not the seventies, which explains much.

Blue Jays appear to have used the framework from Toronto's city flag for their jersey numbering.

Toronto's I believe is the outline of their City hall. Jamming in a maple leaf is pretty tacky.
I wonder if the jersey reveal is the same time as the annoucement for the new building?
Timing appears to be right after the civic election as has been stated for the building, along with an early November jersey release. What better way to play up the civic spirit aspect of a "Calgary" scripted jersey then also looking ahead to the franchise announcing the new digs to be built in our fair city.

Could be. If the rumoured Olympic bid materializes, we should know second week of November. Timeline for building + Olympic bid + jersey announcement could be tied together.

Exactly what I thought of when people started bringing up the idea.
And this year, due to people associating their logo with a defunct sports franchise, they changed their city logo:

36 posts in there were jerseys that looked like tuxedos being thrown around. It's not like it really started on a high note...

At the nhl.com shop there is a flames 'third' jersey in youth sizes.
Like the old thirds but yellow names and numbers. May not be a leak and just the old ones with weird cresting. But I've never seen those before.

The current roads have the same silk screen for the youth size on that site. I assume its because they don't make the twill numbers that small, thus personalized jerseys in those sizes have to get crap silkscreened.
