It all comes down to how lame or responsive a crowd reacts to a teams song.
Here is proof, this has to be one of the more unusual fan anthems but it works when the crowd is behind it and most sane people wouldn't piss of West Ham Fans.
Ring of Fire is used after games by the Flames and is the Anthem for Liverpool
Another unusual sleepy song Blue Moon but when it becomes an Anthem by fans Man City it has a whole different effect.
I would love the Flames to have Depeche Modes Just can't get enough if the crowd reacted like this.
Point is a team can have the best or the worst recorded song but it is what the fans do with it!
It's pretty obvious looking around that the decision will come down to RATM and FOB. They're by far the most popular choices. I wouldn't hate Monster Truck either, but if you cast your vote for that track at this point, it'll be a useless tally. We need to put them where they will make a difference.
So if you want to do some good, and don't want to hear Light Em Up all year long, VOTE RATM!
A little too late to the game, but this would be a great goal song and you could just cure it from the very start. The repeating scream of "fire, fire, fire" would be great. Probably works better as a 20 second blast than it does as a full song too.
Well I suggested the jihad for Sleep Now in the Fire at post #8, so I felt obliged. I've voted for it more times than I care to admit! Maybe if the russians had taught me how to vote with DVD players and whatever else they had I could've done more, but if we end up with FOB or the Dudes its not my fault!

I guess edm just "writes itself" right? The best is when you hear this argument from someone whose experience with song writing consists of writing a generic melody over 3 power chords at most, which is 99.9% of people who spit this type of dribble.
This is usually followed with "Well I can play the solo to blah blah blah" #### you. Write your own music you tool. That's like being proud of your tracing abilities.
EDM contains more unique melodies and complex chord progressions then the vast majority of rock that I hear today. Is there bad EDM? well depends on what you consider as good and bad, but I bet you would be hard pressed to find a more satisfied and crazy crowd than at a Bloody Beetroots show, so I guess it works for someone. Also Paul McCartney has worked with them so I guess he thought they had some talent.
Perhaps that was a bit of a generalization. There's good electronic music as there is bad rock music. Maybe it's cause that song was just such dribble.
But having the experience of both creating both electronic beats/tracks and recording instruments/a live band in studio in production school, the two are vastly different. Looping beats on a computer honestly requires minimal creativity or talent. It's a matter of clicking a beat on here, a cymbal there, and probably why so many people do it. An easy form of expression, but a lot of it is the work of the computer and the software. Some electronic artists are/could be incredibly talented, but it's not the best medium to display it.
I don't claim to know the solo to this or that song. Not really like that at all. But I write my own music. With real instruments, and real vocals.
And (personally) I find a lot of this music, *these days* , of which very little is "real", often is represented by people with more or less hobbies trying to make names for themselves, and less of an ability to actually demonstrate musical, god-given talent. It's a form of expression and art, absolutely, and so I respect it an extent. But the electronic world really seems to be trending this way. And as a musician, I think it's sad.
The fact that you claim that it's just simple looping and "clicking to add a cymbal here and whatever there" tells me that you don't in fact have very much experience with electronic music production. Yes, you might not actually be hitting a cymbal or strumming a chord but a computer does not write a melody, or a chord progression or a beat. When you open up a new project file, guess what? It's blank. You put in every single note and sound and effect that is played. Yeah people use loops on occasion, but that is a skill that compliments the rest of the art. Not very many people get any where by just ripping off loops (it does happen on occasion though, and they are subsequently torn a part by the EDM world)
On top of writing every single aspect of a song - something most "musicians" couldn't dream of doing - Successful EDM producers need to also have expert level knowledge of mixing and mastering, sound design, synth design, FX design and placement and the technical knowledge that their software of choice requires. Again, these are things that most "musicians" don't have a clue about (hence the hired producers that even the biggest, most legendary bands work with).
To say that most EDM productions are "clicking this" and "looping that" is a slap in the face to all the people who use it as their art. I've been playing guitar for 6 years now and guess what, I find EDM production to be on a whole other planet in terms of musicianship.
But hey, playing a guitar is just putting your finger on a fret and strumming a string.

I've played music professionally for years and would like to put in my two cents if I may.
I agree with Polak that EDM music requires great creativity to come up with hooks/melodies/beats/engineering.
But on the other hand I think DJ has a point that "rock" or traditional instrument based musicians require not only same creativity as an EDM artist, but also require more "physical talent" to actually play their respected instruments.
To each their own.

I love EDM, but that beatroots & Steve Aioki song is painfully bad. It makes me want to kick a Canucks fan in the jaw.... oh wait, I always feel like that.
I'm not denying the "live" aspect of edm is definitely lacking compared to other genres but that's the nature of the beast. EDM is very hard to reproduce with live instruments, it has been done with varying degrees of success but the thing with EDM is that most of it is meant for dancing. Calvin Harris is a good example of what happens when you play dance music geniunelly "live". The imperfections kind of kill the vibe. Now Calvin Harris has switched to being a DJ. It's a different world in that sense but DJ's can still create a masterful mix and it still takes a decent amount of talent. ATB on the other hand is currently doing a small but very grand "live" tour where he performs with a full band and apparently it's amazing (although trance vs. poppy house is obviously going to translate better live).
I am in no way, shape or form saying that it doesn't take substantial amounts of talent to be a great "analog" (lol) musician. It does. But to dismiss EDM like that is pretty off base IMO.
P.S. I'm not even going to get into the guys like A-Track and Armand Van Helden (aka ducksauce...) that turn turntables and mixers into their own instruments. They are every bit as talented with their "instrument" as the Eric Claptons and Niel Perts are with theirs.
P.S.S. I also despise that Bloody Beetroots song. They have better songs though. They're not my thing but I still defend their part in EDM as a whole.
