You're the one who bright guns into the conversation. correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounded like you were trying to argue that guns aren't that bad, when you consider all the car accident deaths.
If not, what was your point of that little statistic?

Your chart says that gun deaths are expected to outnumber car deaths in 2015. I like how gun related included suicide too. Nice little touch

Its inevitable. Guns don't come with airbags, antilock brakes, stability control and crumple zones. All of the engineering that goes into guns is to make them more lethal.

Why? I would guess car accidents causing death also includes suicide, but once again, I'm not sure what your point is.

The vehicle itself was the weapon.

I guess police shootings, suicides and accidental deaths are causing the numbers to rise?
One thing I find funny (well, sad actually), is that if you look at any news story on motor vehicle deaths decreasing that attributes it to safety features like ESC (which has statistically reduced motor vehicle deaths by 20-30% in every country that mandated it), you can read a bunch of comments calling it BS. They all think it is some kind of liberal agenda to get people to have safer cars, and they find it very distasteful. Not only is the right wing in the US against gun control, they are also against safer cars. Also, they tend to favour wars, and are against people having health care. I guess you can't convince someone that gun control is a good idea if they are actually in favor of more people dying.

The 12 year old palestinian kids that were strapping bombs to thier chests looked friendly as well.
Cops can't judge by looks or car types or even the fact that she had a kid with her.
All they can judge are on the actions, and it was a rampage. And because there is always the possibility of that car having a few bags of fertilized strapped to it. Or that weapon that she didn't have might have been a weapon out of view. They did what they had to do.
All the other stuff comes out in the investigation.
But not during the actual incident.

I'm going to have to consider an Infiniti as my next car. Looks like it's built like a tank.

If it wasn't so weird it'd make a hell of an ad campaign
Our car ran a police blockade, destroyed a cop car, smashed through government barricades and took a dozen shots before it was stopped, and the baby didn't even pop its diaper.
Infiniti we rule

Possibly post-partum depression.

Isn't that the car that drove into a barricade? Her car didn't touch it.

Correct me if I am wrong, but where did I say anything about the cops or their involvement?
But now that you bring it up, there have been several reports that many of the Capitol Police were not being paid as they were part of the current shut down.
Now, if they are not being paid, they shouldn't have been there as they were not legally on duty. If they were not legally on duty, and they shot this woman, whoa..... That can of worms could get ugly.
Edit, the indications that these people "were not being paid" isn't actually true after all. They ARE essential services, their pay is just "backlogged".

I don't think there's legally or not legally on duty based on pay. These might have been volunteer officers or they agreed to work in lieu of.
We've seen police volunteer to work without pay in other cities in jurisdictions legally. I believe as long as they are in uniform and signed into a shift that's all that matters, no whether they're being paid or not
As to the top part, I don't think I meant to call you out specifically. But there's this misnomer out there that the police should have reacted based on what the woman looked like or that there was a baby in the car, and they can't really do it mostly because the primary responsibility is prevention of a much worse incident.
We've seen a pretty angelic looking teen in the Boston Bombing, we've seen young kids carrying out terrorist attacks. Even during the Vietnam war the use of babies or mock babies was used against American troops because it would add indecision to your reaction time.
At the end of the day the police and especially the ones involved in governments security is to stop something from happening no matter what the situation, then investigate afterwords.
Its the world we live in.
Again I didn't have the intention of calling you out specifically you bought up a point that I think is important to the discussion.

For a car that supposedly rammed into the Whitehouse gates, cars and other items, it sure doesn't have a lot of damage on it....
