Yup youngest player ever to score in the NHL, U20 and FEL. He is going to be fun to watch, insanely strong on the boards and doesnīt make a bad play. Never seen that in an 18 year old before.

I don't know how strong he'll be on the boards in his first year but the size and reach really help around the net. Playmaking is his main strength and that will become more and more evident each game as he becomes more comfortable. From what little I could watch, he was already better in the third period than he was in the first.

I really think his passing is what will set him apart. He won't dominate many physical battles until he's older - he's mature for his age, not a mutant.

I think after one game is a little early to be saying he doesn't make a bad play. Maybe in the other leagues, but even Crosby makes several bad plays a game in the NHL.

Why would you assume that he means it literally?

That reminds me, Luongo's fragile psyche will take an even bigger beating this year without the Schneid man to relieve him every time he short circuits the bed

Stamkos played almost 25minutes last night, had 2 shots, 1 give away, 1 take away, 36% FO & 1 hit, 0 goals, 0 assists and a +-0.

Monahan played 14 minutes less and got an assist, that means Monahan > Stamkos. Good times ahead my friends..

Agree.

By strong I didnīt mean physically because he doesnīt play that way at all. But he is strong protecting the puck and using his body to shield the puck along the boards. It really is hard to knock the puck away from him. I was suprised how well he could do it just in his first game.

I think his reach will serve him well but I'd expect that he will get outmuscled by the veterans. He'll still be able to make the right plays in most situations. All he has to do is stay on his feet.

Huberdeau looked more excited by the goal than Barkov himself. To me, Florida hasn't had a likeable team since their expansion playoff run with Lowry and company, but they have a couple of pieces now at least.

Haha yeah saw that too. Not that Barkovīs reaction was suprising.

I think Florida is going to suprise a lot of people this year if they can stay healthy. They got a good buzz going on in South Florida with all the youngsters finally taking over spots on the team. Gudbransson is going to be a monster this year.

Was it Gudbransson with the huge block in the third? That was pretty badass. They had a lot of sacrifice in their game.

Realistically they should be at the bottom. Tim Thomas is a wild card though. He's a madman goalie, could get them a few extra wins, depending on how the time off has affected his game.

Yeah it was Gudbransson. He also was making big hits and leveling people couple of times. He is really tough to play against but still occasionally makes a bad decisions with the puck. Other than that he is really fun to watch.

I think Florida has better talent than what they had two years ago when they won the division. Again, really depends if they can stay healthy but if they can, I thnk they are a playoff bubble team. TT also looks like he hasnīt missed a beat.
