Ah well. Great game, very entertaining. Now let's watch the Nucks lose.

Kipper was nearly as bad when he first joined the Flames. It wasn't until the last couple years that he did ok.

Flames absolutely dominate the team play in OT, then lose the circus sideshow.
Just keep playing OT, go to 3-on-3 if you want, but the shootout is a lame way to end a team sport.
Otherwise, loved the effort, fun game to watch. Be nice to get a sniper like Squid in the lineup to help the PP. Pretty good start overall.

stupid shootouts. Still pretty excited tonight, proud of the boys' effort. Entertaining game for sure
Really liked Wideman, Giordano and Backlund tonight. Solid effort from most guys.

Much better to try and drill the puck through the goaltender. 60% of the time it works everytime!

Backbreaking penalties killed them again. Hartley just needs to have entire practices of 5 on 4.
Same problem as last season. I'm happy they put up 4 goals.

Dammit!
Not a bad showing for a first except for a little lull in the 2nd. I think the effort was there for the most part.
I'm not too surprised at the kid's lack of ice time for the 1st game. I expect it will gradually increase over time. They looked pretty good out there tonight.

Great game for the most part by the Flames. I suspect I'm not the only one that was a bit shocked to see the score after the first. If they give it that much effort every game I'll be happy all season long, win or lose. OT was laughably one sided, very cool to watch.
Aside from the SO, what a crappy way to end such a fun game.

Pretty sure the Caps had a crazy high efficiency on the pp last year. Not a team to be shorthanded against....

Was a fun game to watch. All I ask is for them to try and work hard and that happened tonight.
Sven needs some more effort, he was better tonight but I think he can be a bit smarter once he gets the puck.
Monahan looked fine, didn't seem like he didn't belong. I hope he gets faster, is that something that can be taught/trained in a young guy like him?

Overall, much better looking game than I thought. Flames played hard, good effort most of the night.
Once Washington got with in two, Flames looked nervous and as soon as it got tied, they loosened up and played their game again. That will happen with a young team I think.
Looks like we will still suck at shoot outs at both ends of the ice, lol. Ramo got lit up and some fairly un-confident efforts from Sven and Hudler.
Still, I'd say this was a very positive first game. Grabbed a point and lots of room for improvement for the coaching staff to highlight.
