Broissoit assigned to Alaska Aces
As per team release, along with 6 other players.

Can't he go back to the WHL?

Good place to have Broissoit start, goalies take time to develop, and there is no rush to have him go straight to the AHL. Baby steps, in my opinion, is a great way to go.
Give 'em hell, Broissoit!

He could. Why would that be a better option?
This way if any of Ramo, MacDonald, Ortio or Berra get injured (or traded, or lost on waivers) he can get called back up to the AHL. If he goes to the WHL he's stuck there all year. He's already dominated the WHL.

it's the best move. I prefer him playing big minutes in the ECHL to being limited to a few games behind Berra or Ortio in the AHL. Next year, with MacDonald probably gone, he can make the transition to the AHL.

I very much doubt that the Oil Kings would be overly concerned with doing what would be good for Brossoit's development. They would be far more interested in developing their own, younger goalies.

Its too bad Berra had to go down to the Heat. I would have liked to see how Ortio and Brossoit would have done in a 1a/1b platoon. Brossoit's success in the WHL makes me think he deserved to graduate to the AHL, not the ECHL.

Being the starter in the ECHL is going to be best for him compared to being the third stringer in the AHL. Hopefully he has a really strong year of growth and comes back to camp next season and pushes the guys who are ahead of him at this point. By the time he is 24/25 he may be the best out of all of them. Hopefully Alaska wins the championship with him in the net!

Goalies are the one prospect where sending them to the ECHL isn't a death knell.

If he were sent back to the WHL, it's unlikely he'll get more games than Tristan Jarry.
Really, if it's not the AHL, Alaska is probably the better place for him.

I enjoy this from the Alaska Aces wikipedia page:
Quote:
In June 2002, Cusick put the team up for sale on eBay. The club's owner, Cusack, accepted a $1.862 million bid from Duncan Harrison, owner of Alaskan Automotive Distributing in Anchorage, but U.S. Bankruptcy Court judge Donald MacDonald converted the Aces' bankruptcy case to Chapter 7, which allowed him to reject the Harrison bid.

This means he doesn't ride the pine behind Berra in the AHL.

exactly. Will be interesting to see who plays the majority of the games, but I'd expect Berra to be the go to guy at the beginning
