After they smashed the windows, they pulled him out, and beat the crap out of him. Then they slashed his face with a knife.

Read the articles. Theres more info on these losers. The cops also knew about this ride, and had check stops pulling them over at different points.

Except that he was surrounded by bikers who were looking to get him out of the car. Later on you can see them try to open the door, and then even later on, smash his windows. Would you stick around for that? Especially when your family was in the car? This wasn't a fender bender where you wait for a cop to show up in 20 minutes.

Based on that video, it appears that the motorcyclists surround the SUV, and then the one guy stops short......sure seems likes the motorcyclists opened a can of worms......

Well as you said they surrounded him and beat in his window after he took off the first time right?

My question is why he didn't call the cops at that point and stay on the interstate or hwy and not go to a heavy traffic area?

I don't blame him with his kid in the car, it should be every parents utmost priority to take care of their kids at all costs.

Yup. The article says, when they first pulled him over, they were already smashing his car and trying to slash the tires, and get the door open. They gave him no other choice then to run them over.

We are bringing guns into this? I'm all for guns ownership but there is a time and place for them and this was not one.
If anyone pulled a gun in this scenario a murder would have occurred.
SUV drivers pulls his first he maybe gets 1 or 2 bikers (which would be in self defense) but there were 100s of bikers one of them would have murdered the SUV driver after that. If one of the bikers had a gun and used it first it would have just been straight murder.
I'm surprised to hear that this didn't end in murder anyway. Driver got hospitalized with only a few cuts? Crazy.

I'm not too familiar with these rides, but they are organized to a certain extent no?
Why are they not organized like a critical mass event with road closures and police presence already there to ensure a safe place for these riders to ride and "own the street" for a bit as they are hoping to do here?

I would bet his girl was on the phone with the cops at one point. I would also bet he was heading for a police station, when he ran into a red light.

Your right, he should have stayed on the freeway and directed the cops to him.

I'm not sure if you've ever been to NYC, but its pretty hard to not get stuck in traffic at the best of times. I was actually surprised it took that long for him to get into a jam. Even if he stayed on the West Side Highway, its a really busy road...it was only a matter of time before traffic slowed him down again. Off the highway, you might at least have some bystanders help you out or act as witnesses.

It was reg that brought up guns, not me.

We had a "ruff ryder" group with us at our hotel a few weeks ago and it was just stupid. how many people they offended was crazy, then their 5 bikes to a lane and god forbid you try to pass them, that's like taking their manhood from them.

I was so happy to see them leave and peal out one last time in our parking lot

Never been to NYC and have no ambition to go there. I like medium sized cities and NYC is just too dang big for me.

Yeah, I watched the video, made the post, then read the articles. From just the video, it's hard to tell why the guy runs off so he looks like the bad guy. Then the video cuts out before the beating.

After reading the article, yeah the bikers were total ######s in this.

Like others though, I can't understand why the guy didn't stay on the interstate and have cops catch up to them all.

Well, picture rush hour in Tuscaloosa, increase it by 100, and then picture it happening all day every day. That's basically NYC traffic... not a ton of getaway room at the best of times.

A Range Rover driver actually driving off-road would be like seeing a unicorn.
